i fail to see how, physics speaking, little balls inside your tyre could possibly remove the need to balance a wheel that is imbalanced side to side, as far as i can tell all they are doing is increasing the mass through centrifugal force of your wheel,
and how that could be considered a good thing i don't know.

I'm not sure how they can know how many beads to put in the tyre? The beads would have to be put in before the tyre is put on, so you can't stick it on a balancing wheel.

Plus a talented tyre fitter won't save any time doing this, as it hardly takes any time at all to balance tyres... unless you're a numpty.

The beads are magic and they magically know which side is heavier and and use magic to magically balance the wheel, magically

For starters, Motorbike wheels are balanced Statically. Unless you have a Single sided swing arm bike, where the Wheel can be mounted on a Car style wheel balancer.

Bike wheels (normal ones) are put on a spindle, Then left to settle.
The heavy point obviously settles at the bottom, It is rotated 45deg, And a small amount of weight is applied to the top of the rim.

This method is repeated until then wheel stays in any position you put it. And doesn't rotate and "settle".

Sounds like a crock to me. I can't see how the beads would know where the heavy-point was, much less how they would automatically end up opposite it. Confused

Ah...but maybe I can. All forces equal-out? If you put ball-bearings into a rotating device don't they all end-up perfectly positioned to create a perfectly smooth rotation?

Spokey Dokeys! There's a blast from the past. Along with putting cut up bits of margarine container between the spokes so you sounded like a motorbike. Rolling Eyes

The problem is they'll crash down onto the inside of the rim everytime the bike stops, possibly breaking into bits over time, and the wheel needs to be spun-up each time to get them positioned again, during which time the wheel is temporarily un-balanced.

I think I'll stick to weights on the rim.
