Hi All

Id like some advice on what i can use to rustproof some of the hot bits on my bike like the exhaust downpipes.

Ive jsut bought a 2nd hand set of downpipes for my thundercat - but theyre OEM ones and not the stainless steel ones i really wanted - hence i want to try and treat them to some protective stuff before i fit em.
(Got em from america of all places - it cost me £56 INLUCING UK SHIPPING Shocked - fair enough they aint stainless steel but youd pay 200 quid for a new set of those over here. If your looking for exhaust bits its SERIOUSLY worth a look at american ebay cos some stuff ive found is considerably cheaper even with the big shiping costs).

I know you can buy exhaust / heat resistant paint, but ive used that before on my old 125 and it wasnt that effective so i was wondering if theres anything thats gonna keep stuff in good nick for longer.

Ta

Gaz.

This is a good question; one I'd be interested in an answer to as well.

Not sure if its still available, but i had some in my garage.
white grease, although it was transparent when sprayed on, good coat of that and it stops rust, and worked on a radiator that was rusting.

Think wd40 do a silicone spray too which might work.
but the grease is what id try,

Had ACF-50 put on my engine & bike by Honda dealer. Was told it would smoke until it burnt off / bedded in but not an issue after that and would protect thereafter.

Anything that comes out of a rattlecan is going to be crap. Have them ceramic powder coated. It's good up to 1500deg will still look like new in 10 years.
