cb 500 or bandit 6 (best comuter?)

im bin think ini of upgrading my runaround (currently a tired c90) as i dont think it can take much more... looking at the cheap end of the market, either a cb 500 or a bandit 6, i imagine the bandit will be a bit quickerand looks better, but wot about reliability etc? ive heard the cb's are bullet proof, and a bit cheaper to run.... ?

I have owned a Bandit 6 and Dispatched on a CB500,

I would have to say the CB500 if you dont need the extra power of the bandit, it is utterly bulletproof, You will get much further on a tank of petrol than the thirsty bandit, plus you can get away with putting Bridgestone BT-45's on the CB500 which are relatively cheap compared with something like BT-021's which are one of the best tyres for the Bandit.

There are loads of parts for both bikes so thats not really an issue. The bandits engine is more revvy and fun than the linear CB500 but if its just a frugal runaround the CB500 is perfect

Bandit 600s are one of the most bulletproof engines you could buy...

I'd say the CB500 was a cheaper option but the Bandit is a bloody great commuter. (Especially the half-faired options).

Besides if you can up your budget by £100 or so you can pick up an S model CB500 with the half fairing.

The CB is also incredibly civilised until you grab it by the scruff of the neck, which does help with town riding.

yea the cb always seems to get great reviews, ive had a GPZ 500 an that was a good crack and ive heard there pretty similar ?

CB 500, bandits are too heavy imo, the CB will be cheaper all round the bandit will have more power but if money is the concern stick to the CB.

Flea bay.
It was a dealer in Leeds with 100% feedback and he was very desciptive , when the bike arrived at the docks in Heysham it was better than I expected.It needed nothing done for it's manx test which it's sat now.
The milage was 42k but it had been highly maintained and serviced regularly, Honda engines are just bullit-proof, here it is now.

ive been commuting on a bandit for the last couple of weeks while my zxr has been off the road thanks to a lexus,
i found it to be great, so easy to ride, and comfort... i forgot bikes could be comfortable, somthing the zxr is not, and while i ve had a gs500 i think if i was to choose between the bandit and a parralell twin i would choose the bandit.
there are more parts available, and if the power gets to be not enough, then a oil cooler gsxr 750 engine drops straight in, or a gsxr1100 or b12. same can be said for the swing arm, a b12 swing arm goes in with out much bother and then you have access to loads more tyre choice as well.
so its basically infinitely upgradeable as well.

I have CB500 for commuting and for touring also! Someone (idiots) call it a boring bike, because you just have to fill the tank, and change the oil and oil filter So yes, bulletproof!

The lowset ever fuel consumptation for a big bike (3.8-4 L/100km @90/110 km/h with passanger!!! after a well done carb synch).

More over: "You meet the nicest people on Honda!"
