Went to pick my X Reg Gilera Coguar 125 up this morning and I managed to do 11 miles on it before rain stopped play and I rushed it home to park in the garage. I know most people on here have sports bikes and you possibly think that a 125 is shite but we all have to start somewhere! As I have now only had a bike for less than 10 hours and I am totally new to bikes I have a few questions:
1) Can you buy workshop manuals for bikes? I would like one for mine just so I know my way round it.
2) The choke switch appears to do nothing, regardless of which position it is in, the engine just revs the same - this can't be right can it?
Other than that I am really happy with it and wish it would stop raining so that I can go out and have some fun on it. |

Hi
For a manual try Bob Wright Motorcycles in Weston Super Mare. He is a Gilera specialist (and has been for decades) and might well be able to help you.
Depending on how it works on that particular carb the choke might well not have any direct effect on revs. However you should only need it when the engine is first started from cold, and if it will run without it then turn it off.
As it is your first bike with no real experience then it is probably the best thing to avoid the rain for a bit until you have got a touch more experience. In a week or 2, with decent waterproofs, you will probably be fine in the rain (just take account of the lower levels of grip).
All the best
