Instead of listerning to music, you pay attention to the road, otherwise you'll end up like a lot of other bods on mopeds: wiped out.

Bollocks.

I listen to music all the time (unless it's a short trip).

I've never missed anything or had any bad experiences through listening to my ipod.

I can still hear the blues and Twos before other people who don't listento music.

It depends on your alternator.

A scooter's alternator may not be able to take the strain of charging up two batteries at once.

I wouldn't bother if I were you mate. Obviously it's a matter of personal choice but every time I see a goldwing with a soundsystem I think 'tit...'.

You probably miss a fair bit.

Personally I ride better/quicker/smoother with ear plugs in. Less distractions.

I find myself to be paying mroe attention when I do listen to music.

If I'm not listening to anything then I find myself to lack concentration unless I'm riding hard / in a group.

It just depends person to person. Some people can ride with attention to everything while listening to music, some can't. Simple.

I can.

So you concentrate better when riding alone, with music, but can't ride as well, in comparison, when listening to music riding in a group.

Care to guess why that is?

Would it be because it requires more attention?

Reason I don't listen to music while riding in a group is because when we get to a set of traffic lights and/or we stop I can talk and listen rather than having to turn off my ipod. I have listened to music before on a big rideout and I still paid attention to the road. Haven't had any scares because of listening to music/lack of concentration because of music.

Yeah, riding in a group requires more attention but I chose not to simply because I prefer hearing lots of bikes over my music. Razz

Seriously drop it. Some people can ride with full attention while listening to music and some can't. Either or doesn't make either person a better rider. It's just down to personal choice and whether you can or not.

Up until recently I'd have agreed with Garth, but I travelled up to Fort William with my MP3 player going and it made absolutely no difference whatsoever to my concentration.

I would have said that it would be a distraction, but other than maybe going a wee bit to fast while listening to Faithless/Prodigy/Propellorheads, it made no difference.

Having recently moved from a 125 to an 850, on the former wind noise wasn't really a huge issue. On the 850 at 80 odd, it is and whether its the steady jet enginesque roar of the wind or Eric Carmen's All By Myself Razz ; you can't hear jackshit outside your helmet anyway.

Only caveat was, I turned it off in built up areas as a precaution but again, I don't believe it would've made a difference.

Thumbs Up

PS: Sound system on a ped = Scorn from every level of society except one, can you guess who they'd be? Wink
