Yes. Cost me £30 per year from a company called Call Assist. And it's good for recovering similar bikes which then have my number plate on for when other people don't have breakdown cover . |

yep, have AA cover, have used it only once (blocked fuel line)
i got this cover because
A: my bike is 20 years old
B: i asked around on another forum, basically everyone who had tried the other companys said the aa were the best, rac took ages to turn up only to say they can't fix it and send out for a motorcycle trained guy.. (even if you tell them first, so you have to wait twice...)
maybe the poll could be...
Do you have breakdown cover
-Green flag
-AA
-RAC
-ASSist
-free/ish with insurance
-nope
but tis only £40 or something, a tow truck cost ALLOT more i'd imagine... apparently they are only supposed to take you to the nearest garage (likely to be near some sort of civilization) but most of the time (from what i hear) they just take you home if you ask them |

Hi
Used to be with the RAC, but a 4 hour wait by the side of the road (when only about 8 miles from home) rather put me off them. I could have walked home, go the bike trailer, borrowed a car with a tow bar and gone back to pick the bike up in less time.
They also managed to take 2.5 hours to get to Charlotte. This is despite her getting theoretically a priority service for having a disabled badge.
Now with Direct Line. Used them once. They kept me informed. The recovery guy turned up quickly, but only the realised I was on a bike so had to get another truck. Even with this faffing round it only took them about an hour in total from ringing them to getting picked up.
All the best

To argue the other side for the RAC.
Not only do you get a 20% discount in some motorway services but I've always found them very helpful and efficient. When I was on my way to Cornwall and having car trauma, I asked the RAC van man located at the services for help and he gave me assistance there and then.
My Dad has a family membership, and it covers the three of us for any vehicle we are in/on, or not even with.
When James' bike was stolen, the recovery company wanted an extra £45 on top of the fee we had already paid to deliver it back to our house. I called the RAC who said that they would pick it up and deliver it, which they did within an hour, and brought it round the back and wheeled it right inside to where we wanted it. ____________________ Avast! I had RAC cover. Called them out loads and they never once sent a bike mechanic, one bloke didn't even know I'd got a bike till he got in the garage .
Had to wait over 3 hours one night in the freezing cold (Apparently I was a priority case being a biker, it was -3 out and all I needed was some petrol) saw a shedload of RAC vans driving round, and a mate got there before they did. I once asked an RAC bloke in his van for a hand, even showed him my RAC card, and he told me to call them. He then sat in his van across the road for another 30 mins before fucking off
Now I have cover through Mitch (insurance) and I've yet to test it, though they say they have fully trained bike mechanics. ____________________ Back on a Blade. Just feels so right. |

My breakdown cover came free with my insurance as well. They were great too. When I got hit on the round about they got a man in a van to pick me up and take me home, did not even have to sign anything.
And when I was in the hospital the nice man in the pub kept the bike safe in the cellar for me. Then I rang the breakdown again and they picked it up for me from there!
I think the way they work is you ring the call centre and then they get the nearest cheapest recovery to come and get you, as two different people picked me up, cant fault them though. ____________________ Carbon closet tart! https://www.bikepics.com/members/r6stuk/02r6/

Well I didn't have cover. But upon reading this post I just registered with the AA. Seems like a good idea. I've had to push the bike home on 2 occasions last year.
I was going to go with RAC but reading what a few of you posted, I have changed my mind. ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing  |

I got breakdown cover with my insurance. I think it was only another £20 so I thought it would be worth it. I've only had to use it once so far (touch wood) but it was a pretty good service to be fair. Basically I was meant to go to Korn's house and the bike was misbehaving and misfiring like a bastard. I phoned th insurance company and they said I had to be a mile away from home and I had 100mile recovery. I just rode the bike as best as I could round the block to work and rang them again. 45 minutes later a van turned up and took me all the way to Korn's, some 70 odd miles I believe ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F
