Hi
I was hoping some 600 riders may be able to give me some advice. I am looking at possibly buying a sport 600 and would like to know peoples opinions on what is best suited.
I will use the bike mostly for short comutes, between 15-20 miles, mostly in the summer but also in the winter too. I am also 6'2.
I am looking at 06 plates really, so the k6 GSXR, or R6 or D675 or Zx6r.

Look wise i like the daytona but am worried it is too sport focused and I wont be able to ride it happily compared to say the GSXR which i think of as more user freindly.

I do however have to keep the bike under cover outside so i worry that the GSXR will rust away where as the D675 would hopefull be better?

Does anyone have any opinions on the Kwak and R6 in comparrison?

I will be taking test rides but id like a steer in the right direction. Thanks

I test rode the whole lot (600 sports)......but was blown away by the cbr600rr so that`s what i got. It`s superior in so many ways i can`t even begin to explain it. (not everyone will agree with that....it`s JMO)

but tbh....i think you`re looking at the wrong bikes if all you`re gonna use them for is a 15 mile daily commute.Maybe think of something more practical mate.

With the sports 600's its a case of test riding them really because they all do what they are supposed to very well. I've only ever had a go on one, a TT600 which is getting on now, they're fucking fun Laughing

Though what I will say is if you're mainly doing short commutes why get a shiney/expensive sports bike that gives you sore wrists and an aching back? its only worth it if you give it the large one quite regularly imo.

I know it doesnt make sense to me either! Wink

I guess part of me just wants something that looks the mutts! (thats being honest) I also want something i can ride down to the coast (50 miles) and things like that.

I was also thining about the 2004/5 GSXR600 which is cheaper...

I guess really what are most 600's desgined for other than the track, and most people dont use them only for the track Confused

Can't give you advice on how they perform but appearance wise i think the R6 is such a gorgeous bike.

As said above.. Test ride the 3 or 4 600's that grab you attention mostly. No point you asking which one is best for you as only you can decide that.

Good Luck in choosing mate.

If you`ve got the money for one and want something that looks the bizznizz....i`d say get one tbh.Nothing wrong with that at all.You dont have to wring their necks if you dont want to....but i`ve got a feeling your daily 15 mile commute will turn into a 50 mile mystery tour every morning coz you`ll be setting off early just to go and have a hoot.
They`re addictive.....lol

Seriously though....they`re bloody awful to ride in a "stop/start" environment, they`re hard to manoeuvre, and they batter your wrists big style if you dont keep moving.
I wouldn`t even dream of using mine for the commute....i`ve got a nice comfy plod for that and its "looks" dont even come into it.
it does the job...and does it well...and that`s what counts for the commute.

Seriously if you still think Suzuki's rust away you should just shoot yourself.

I road an rf for a year through winter the lot and never washed it and it never rotted, yet my mates newer zx6r rusted every where.

Get whichever works best for you. There is so little to split them nowadays none of them are "bad" bikes.

07 GSXR 600

1. keeping a gixxer outside under a cover is no issue, trust me! just a pain in the arse to keep it clean, its a labour of love Smile

2. I do the same commute everyday, comfortable enough good fuel economy if that bothers you, the only downside is that riding it slowly bores the hell out of you and you spend the whole commute longing for the open road, then you find it and blast!

3. Fantastic fun, great bike, looks the nuts

Buy one, but not the same colour as mine, im proud of idividuality Razz

Even though i'm a kwaka fanboy, i'd say Gixxer 6, it's probably the most usable and bearable of the '06 600cc bikes out there. It just happens to be the case that McGee rides em. I'm not particularly fond of the hondas.

that corona paint job is damn sexy!

I should add that my commute isnt through london or anything like that, mostly a and b roads and not too congested.

I honestly thought the finish on suzukis was below par from what i have read although i had an sv for a year without problems, i guess stereotypes last.

I am so confused at the moment! Im heading towards a slightly older bike now like a 2003 R6 or 2004/5 GSXR, although they still go for a reasonable amount and it makes you wonder if its a false economy when you can pay just a little more and get something much newer and lower mileage.

Thanks for the replies, it really helps, especially from those who already ride in simlar circs! Thumbs Up

Best 600.......CBR600RR..........driven others and the cbr600rr is by far the best. I'm sure someone will disagree though.

You mentioned a Daytona may be too sporty.....the Daytona is like a tourer compared to the CBR600RR. The 600rr is a pure race orientated machine. Technically the Daytona ain't a 600 either.

I must say that i had a go on a Pan European the other day and am quite ashamed to say it was pretty good!

In fairness for normal use they are all very much of a muchness.

I've got what's left of my 02 ZX636R and have been commuting on it for 2 years or so, put 10,000 miles on it and no problems at all. Plus im 6'4"ish.

The only issues i've had is the finish on odd bits like the pillion footpegs but for a 6 year old bike with 20,000 miles on it used in all conditions and kept outside it's not an issue really.

well im hoping tomorrow, as long as the weather aint too bad, to test ride the '06 Daytona 675, 04' Daytona 650 and 06' suzuki GSXR600.

I think only after riding will be able to say whether its worth the money and what i want or if its worth coming down in price and years.

Owned a K4 6 and an 05 636. I used them both in the winter and summer and i would say the ZXR was a nicer bike in almost every way apart form the lack of a damper.

The 636 was beter in terms of looks and finish and had a little moor guts! But the GSXR was a brilliant bike!

If i were to get a 6 now the only two that would not interest me would be the ZXR"600" or the R6.

It's a 600 *class* machine as it's a triple not a four.

Use a CBR600f2 for my commute and lunchtime fun Smile

Agree they do hurt your wrists a tad but you soon forget about it once you hit a bit of clear road Smile

The f2 is more tourer than the RR but still makes me smile like a kid at christmas as i roll up the slip road and all the arses in their "sports cars" or company beemers get left for dead.
