The high levels can go back on, but I'm a bit concerned about noise testing etc

It's not painted because it's a track fairing. The fit ain't fantastic and I can't be arsed to spray it. I might do at some point, probably when I take them off to refit the originals.

Garth, my TLR which had fairly high level cans and rearsets was only about 1 inch from scraping on track, god only knows where id be if i had cans which are that low.

They do test at all MSV circuits these days. Most systems seem designed to fall within the limits though (unless you're on a quiet day) and you don't see many fails.

There tends to be someone conveniently selling db killers on hand, just in case.

What makes it a track fairing? Is it just an unpainted one you don't care about scraping? Or are the materials different?
