Okay, it's not a bike, but it's still pretty cool, even if it is on 4 wheels. My street sleeper Polo with a supercharged 1.3 kicking out somewhere around 180bhp. It spins the wheels up wildly even on half throttle in 1st, really struggles for grip in 2nd, then it's away!

It's not that far off stock to be honest. The few changes that have been done are for pretty practical reasons:

Wheels - needed 14" to get wider tyres on it
Lowered with adjustable suspension - standard suspension won't hack it
Front splitter - There's a fair bit of pipework hiding behind there

Still surprises many people, though! Haha!

My girlfriend wants a Polo for her first car. Shes got her eyes on the Mk3.

I want to get her a Mk1 and dress it up like the G40. But she said "she doesn't want a car that looks old".

Oh dear. Shes got some learning to do! Laughing

180bhp out of a 1.3. I know VAG are awesome motors, But surely that comes with high maintenance?
And I can imagine it shifts! Dam_Buster had a 206bhp Corrado G60 which was silly quick. So 26bhp less in a POLO. Jesus christ! Laughing

My friend has had 2 G40's, hear is a link to a video of him flipping his 1st one 3 times!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVwgoWMe6xA&feature=related

I was behind him on my GSXR and saw the whole thing!

He now has a MK1 Golf with a tuned G60 engine in it pumping out 250+ Bhp!!!!!!!

I cant really believe yours has 180Bhp as my mates G40 had every mod (R1 Supercharger, tooth belt ect...) and was running 165Bhp!

Maintenance isn't too bad... I change the oil every 1000 miles as it's kept on the boil most of the time when the engine's warm. Those old G-laders are fragile things. The supercharger rebuild schedule is every 10,000 miles. Apart from that, as much as a normal G40!

PSD Full Blend supercharger
65mm toothed belts
Big intercooler
Throttle body wedges removed
Polo GT inlet manifold
Piper cam
Big valve head
1341cc Forged pistons (increased compression from 8:1 to 9.3:1)
Boost return mod
Oil catch tank
Oil cooler
Jetex exhaust
Modified airbox

There are some out there running in excess of 200bhp - I've even heard of one or two kicking out 250bhp. By that point, we're talking upgrading the supercharger to a G60 or an Eaton from the new Mini's. There are a few turbo's out there, also!

@JAMSXR Ouch to your mate in the crash!

Surely get a Mk3 (well, Mk2F technically) and "dressing it up" like a G40 would be far more logical Confused if still a bit pointless, and nearly as bad as sticking "turbo" badges to a 1.2 corsa!

Mk1s look nowt like G40's at all Rolling Eyes

Very true...

If you want the plastic arches, I can understand that, the G40 bumpers, I can understand that. But putting a G40 badge of a 1.0l is a bit daft really...

As to most women's choice of cars, a lot of them would rather have this:

https://www.tecnocoches.com/wp-content/imagenes/2007/05/kia-picanto-2008-0.jpg

than this:

https://img63.imageshack.us/img63/9222/audi50ci5.png

I know which I'd prefer...

I think ive got all that wrong. Laughing

Theres 5 "mks" of polos right?
I'm getting them mixed up I think. More into Golfs.

And by dressing it up as a G40 or whatever I wont be sticking no supercharged badges on it! Laughing Laughing Laughing

I "dressed up" my 206 as a GTi, It was badge less though. And EVERYONE used to ask me if it was a 2 litre.
Plus, I never drove it fast or raced anyone, So nobody was the wiser.

Probably gonna get her a Mk3 anyway, Missed a few good ones on Auto Trader though. Anything under £800 and they sell like hot cakes!

Nice car! My ultimate sleeper would have to be a Mini 1300 with a KAD head (16v Twincam), fuel injection and a supercharger, though Very Happy

Thought you'd got confused Binge.

Mk1 is the nice black one a few posts up.
Mk2 is the OP's car (mine too)
Mk2f (usually known as Mk3) is what the G40 was based on.

After that they all look pants and I loose interest.

It's an Audi 50, identical to the Mk1 Polo bar the badges. It was just later re-badged as the VW Polo!

Fook. How did that happen, can't really see properly. Presuming just lost the back as it was damp?
