I know it my seem like a stupid question for some but there must be few weekend warriors out there that prefer their car to the bike.

For what?

Slogging up the country; take the car, unless there's traffic.

Taking mates to the pub; take the car.

Commuting; bike.

Off-roading; bike.

Racing; bike. (Might be different if I could afford to race cars, but then that's part of the appeal of bikes.)

Its just out of curiosity, as there there has to be some people that prefer the car as to the bike and only use the bike on sunday hoons and such like.

But surely, the people who are weekend warriors and such and use their bikes once in a blue moon wouldnt want to look like an idiot on this forum and would say that they prefer their bike over their car so they look like "real bikers" and not just a weekend warrior, as not many admit theyre weekend warriors, theyre full fledged bikers who love their bikes to do a whole of 100 miles per year.

Believe itd fall under the hawthorne effect.

Right, so you're on a BIKE forum, asking if people prefer bikes or cars? To be truly informed I would suggest you find a car forum and ask the same question.

And then a mental health forum, pussy cats forum, Eastern European wives forum.... well.... you get the picture.....

General circumstances, I'll use the car. It's far less hassle and often more enjoyable.

It's not as simple as 'bike just for Sunday hoons' though. Sometimes I'll take the car for that. Sometimes I'll take the bike for something boring cos it's easier / cheaper / I feel like it. Going into London for example, no congestion charge and cheaper parking.

Offroading, I use the bike, as I don't have an offroad car. If I did, I'd probably dabble.

Trackdays I use the bike. I've done a car one and it was okay but not as good as bike ones. I can also much better afford to throw my bike into the gravel than to throw my car.

But if the question simply refers to 'which do you prefer for going about your daily business on the roads' then it's the car by miles.

It's using the right tool for the job, innit.

i put bike despite being a "weekend warrior".

i would love to be able to use the bike to commute on, but the little lady wouldn't like it (she's a safety nazi, all gear or no ride sort.). Its also too much hassle getting the bike in and out of the garage in a rush.
then there's the clothing, in the rain it means putting the lot on, in the dry i would wear my jeans (normal not draggin) and a coat etc, but as said before she wouldn't.

on top of the fact she hasn't moved in properly yet so we take her stuff back and forth everyday.

then at work i may need to transport gear from site to site, or just move site for meetings.

all in all its just too much hassle compared with get in the car, drive, get out.

role on summer then it'll be walking or cycling.

using a bike in the rain, ice and snow is just adding unnecessary risk to an already risk hobby.

being caught out in any of the above doesn't bother be, but i wont actively seek out to try and impede my journey.

lol, im not apposed to cars, i don't own one here in the uk, mainly because it would be an utterly pointless excercise, and i would spend most of my time in traffic.
in nz i almost always own a car, and i find it to be great, but our biggest city has a million people, the south island which in itself is is the size of the uk, only has 1 million people, so you can see how a car can be enjoyable.
its just not worth my time over here

Im probably classed as a weekend warrior, in that my bike is a toy.
Ill mainly ride at weekends but will often go on on weekdas if its nice weather, go ill just use it to go to the shops.

Long gone are the days where i had to use the bike for everything, its miserable, wet and cold in the winter.

Hmmmm car vs bike.

Car drinks diesel, whereas the bike needs servicing every 10 hours. The car is slightly big and is hassle fitting in places with height restrictions, whereas the bike is just offensively loud. The car makes me go offroading to try and get stuck, the bike makes me break a few rules of the road. The car is a bitch to park cos of size, and the bike is a bitch to park cos it doesn't have an ignition just kickstart and off you go. The car has various bits which aren't quite to the letter of the law, same story for the bike. The car smells and has enough mud in it that I could grow stuff in the footwells, but the bike means needing lid/jacket/gloves/boots/etc. to go places.

Conclusion, I'll go by pushbike.

well its got to be a bike in the summer obvi because its just so much fun we all can take corners so well but in the winter its got to be the car keep dry and warm and its safer as your not likely to slide out
