I'm planning for my 21st in July to invite everyone I know to come and get pissed with me in a field, then fall asleep in tents. I want a place where we wont be bothered by people from about 4pm till midday the next day.

I want to do it properly so I wont be bothered by the law, and don't mind paying money out for it. It needs to be nearish to where I live, which is Essex. Anyone know anywhere or how I would go about it.

Agreed Thumbs Up

Try Mr. Old MacDonald on 01245 9742093 - tell him you're a friend of Farmer Giles and you'll get a 10% discount and a field with a water trough.

You live in Essex.

You want to rent a field in Essex.

I am from Essex and I can honestly say there are shed loads of fields in Essex, absolutely loads of them.

Farmers own fields.

Now for the clever bit, try ringing some farmers near to the place you would most like to rent a field and ask if you can rent a field.

Or is that too simple an option?

You do know how the phone works?

Just in case, get a mental idea of where you want your party, use the yellow pages or www.yell.com and find farmers in the area, pick up the telephone (little device for talking, you must have seen one) and ring the number next the name of the farm you want to talk to.

Bingo Bango.

Personally I'm not sure if the farmers would be willing to rent it for a day ubless you've got alot of safeguards in place.
Apart from the damage you could do there's also the mess that will be left behind. What do you plan to do about toilets etc ??

Hey.

I reckon you'll be hard pushed to find a farmer who'll rent you a field for your purposes for all the reasons outlined above. Have a look round for lower end camp sites, ones that aren't emembers of the caravaning club. You can just tell the type that'll let you have your get together, it'll be a bit mucky, not very busy and generally ill-kept.

We did something like this at Strathclyde country park, in the middle of a fairly built up area but surrounded by motorways so no gate crashers. Also had the added bonus of a fun park half a mile away.

Good luck.

Thumbs Up

You'd be needing to be licensed under the Criminal Justice Act, Public Licensing Laws if you're wanting it to be legit and not get shut down as a rave.

All looks a bit of a minefield and headache to try and put on legally though.

What a few mates drinking beer (they have bought from a supermarket) on private property? I don't think I will even have music, I just want as many people i know there.

Chris, find your local Rugby Union Club and ask if you can book their place and would it be possible to have camping on a practice pitch or round the edge of a pitch. Several bike clubs use Rugby Union Clubs for Rally's etc. Wigan Rugby Union club and Preston Grasshoppers here in Lancashire host bike rallies with no problems. Might be worth a try as Rugby Players tend not to like going home and drink till the cows come home, just like us Bikers. It will solve any licensing hassles and give you a comfy room to party in. You could take one laptop an amp and some speakers and, hey presto, one DIY Disco of all your favourite tunes.

You need to go to your local council offices and apply for a TEN (Temporary Event Notice) this will cover you as far as police etc but you may still get shut down if it is too noisy close to houses etc and the obvious trouble causing and drugs etc. Hope this helps.

A previous experiance with buracrats is telling me not to do this, I'm only going to have this event in a place well out the way.

Rugby club sounds an interesting idea.

Another vote for a campsite here, we did a similar thing in wales for the OH's 50th last year.

All the tents in the pic are our mates, there were as many on the other side ot of shot too, the caravan was also with us and the big white gazebo was whre we had the actual festivities and was a kind of central meeting point.

You will need to make sure the campsite owners know exactly what you are planning though, how many people, whether you will play music and if so how (we usually have someone's car radio on, but also take a couple of guitars) etc etc.

You need to start looking and talking to people now.

Im pretty sure you live right near me (hornchurch) if so give Upminster rugby club a ring they do private partys, Its not the hugest place but theres a bar so drinks are sorted, you might be limited as to what days you can use it, Tuesdays and saurdays are unavaliable for definete, im pretty sure its normaly avaliable on a friday though which is always handy Laughing

Also try Hornchurch football club, same kind of size as the rugby club but id say they'd be more picky about any damage thats caused etc... so perhapse not such a good idea Laughing

Yeah we live close I think yuo live right near my best mate actually.

I plan to have it saturday night so I can start early ish (4pm) and I know loads of the people at AFC Hornchurch I used to watch them religiously, they don't do hiring. I think a campsite is the way to go I'm gonna try to find a small one and book it out completely.

C_dug and anyone else local or who wants to come is invited BTW, I want this to be big Laughing
