Hi,
I need to some tech help. I want to purchase a tyga exhaust & would like to know if the bike will remain learner legal?

And if it is just a case of swapping the stock exhaust over to the tyga?

And if anyone else has had one fitted if it makes the bike faster?

Cheers

You seem to be suffering from a huge misunderstanding here, and that is that you can keep a bike learner legal and make it faster. This is not the case.

If you want to make a restricted bike faster, then you will be making it non learner legal by definition. Learners who are 17 and on a CBT are restricted to 14.6bhp. In order to make a bike go faster you need more power, which means braking this limit.

I suspect that without the powervalve motor fitted, a tyga exhaust will do diddly squat anyway, but you might potentially add one or two bhp which would be braking the law. Also, the bike will probably be stupidly loud after the modification which would draw the attention of the police. Since aftermarket exhausts are usually fitted to make a bike more powerful, they are going to ask some very awkward questions.

If you want to go the whole hog, then fit the powervalve motor and the tyga exhaust, but you definately won't be legal. And you may need to rejet the carb or you could run very lean and seize the bike.

In short, if you want to keep it legal, don't bother.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I asked the company who are selling it if it would remain learner legal and they have told me yes & that the bike may need to be re-jetted. I am confused because i get mixed answers and there is no where to go to get confirmation.

Is it the end can or the full system you want to add to the bike?

It's legal if it is restricted.

It wont be a problem then. Its only the end can so it doesn't effect the preformance. It may however, need jetting (however mine RS didnt need rejetting when i added my arrow end can). As long as it isnt the full system it will be fine.

Damon.

p.s I've always ran my bike fully deresticted on a CBT so dont worry too much.

No worries, let me know if you have any problems with the exhaust/ the RS. Bear in mind it will be much louder so make sure you keep the revs low/pull clutch in when in present of the police.

Have you got the website where you got the can from?

I getting from ebay from a store named brook racing. Or just type in tyga exhaust/muffler in the search box. There is a site that sells the race version at a cheaper price but obviously not road legal

hi,
cant see why anyone would put on a racing can,
on a restricted bike.
even full system isnt gonna make it any more powerful (even if jetted correctly)
maybe add 1bhp?
its the pv set up that makes it illegal for learners.
end can just makes it sound different.
the aprilia exhaust is actually quite a good system, the ones before they stated putting the cat in (2003?)
if its just a different sound hes looking for, keep aprilia spanny & stick an arrow end can on.
(waste of money imho)
cheers,
GAZ

Why bother getting a race can on any road bike - rarely makes a significant amount of difference for the price you pay.
Apart, of course, from to the sound.
