So it seems the majority of us dont exist.

I've just filled in a job application form and it asked for my ethnic background. It had absolutely every race colour and creed under the sun on the check sheet but not me.

White, english.

Closest I could find was White European!

Not even British and white was on the list. Are we being phased out or something?

I dont consider myself european, im English ( British at a push ) tis getting beyond a joke.

Surely if they don't want to discriminate in any way how about DON'T ASK! That way it's more of a lucky dip. Might get asian, might get black, might get a woman or *shocker* might get white! Oh the surprise! White people want to work too!

It wasnt meant in a racist sense, i just dont understand why they feel the need to ask. They didnt ask my age ( incase of age discrimination ) yet they feel the need to ask my ethnic background yet they dont provide for the most likely candidate.

I dont see what difference it makes being black/white/brown/green makes to being a mechanical fitter!

I was born in Melrose, Scotland. But I moved when I was about 3 months old to live in Colombia where I grew up until I was about half 10-11. Spanish is my mother tongue, then German and then English.

Paki may be an abbreviation of Pakistani but that's a bit of a moot point. It's just like calling a black person a coon. Admittedly, coon isn't an abbreviation but the meaning behind Paki has changed over the years to something with racist meaning whether you use it like that or not.
