VFR 400 heeelp

hey i got a 1990 vfr 400 nc30, i started her up and went to ride and when i turned the bars left it cut out no power at all. i checked the wiring and the wire coming from my ignition barrel had freyed and 2 wires inside out of the three had come apart, i rewired them back togethor but there is still 0 power to my bike at all times. i tried changin the fuses under the seat at the tail section but not joy no change is there another fuse box or anything else i shud try?

When you say you re-wired it back together... do you mean twisted together and taped up Laughing

or similar...

Sounds like you've connected the wrong cables maybe.... first thing I'd do is check they are definetly going to the correct cables, then go to halfords and get some crimps and crimp the cables properly (assuming you haven't done this properly, if you have already then apologies..)

You may have blown the main fuse, you're probably looking at a small fuse box for lights/horn etc... somewhere else on the bike there should be a main fuse, check that hasn't blown.

If all that checks out fine, then get a multimeter to check there is power around the wiring loom, the battery has a charge etc etc... the last bit sounds unlikely if you've had the bike running fine....

If you have power to the loom but no start then I'd start looking at the starter switch, sidestand and clutch cut outs etc....

hey thankyou for the advice i did just twist the wires back haha but i will do it properly now do you know where the main fuse in a vfr 400 nc30 would be i looked for ages > Sad

you'll have to remove the rear fairing to get to the main fuse. disconnect the big red connector plug(marked "fuse") from the starter relay, and the fuse should be inside it.
