Polishing wheels with just sandpaper?

Hey right, i just fancy a job to do tonight with the bike so i figure i'll lash the rear wheel off while im waiting for my parts and get the paint off trying to polish it up, now i'll probabaly be getting them powdercoated in the near future anyway so the paint has to go, but if i like them polished them i might just keep them.

Is it worth doing it without the proper polishing equipment and just work up the sandpaper grades or is it a waste of time?

polishing takes a hell of alot of looking after and you will be at it for days with just different grandes of paper good luck

Get a cheep orbital sander, great for paintwork removal and polishing. I used to use them on my old mini!

Its worth it and achieveable using paper,
the problem is if its a intiricate wheel design a orbital sander wont get in most places.

as far as i remember polished needs repolishing every 2 months or so, maybe less cant remember exactly.
id go for a nice powercoat if i were you.
