Well at the moment I'm 17 and on a 250 and looking to get a bigger bike. As usual its not the cost of the bike so much as the cost of the insurance until yesterday I came across something suprising. Ols 80's BMW's are cheaper for me to insure than say a Divvy. So the plan is to get an old BMW R100RT say and have a big big with cheap insurance. Only about 440 quid with 1 year NCB.

Anyone got any tips with BMW bikes, I've heard that the can be a bit agricultural especially on the gear change.

Cheers, Rich

Insurance is dependant on a lot of variables. A company that is cheaper for one person may not be for the next. Always shop around or use go compare or similar. Thumbs Up

If you want upsetting a bit more I paid my renewall yesterday. £71 TPF&T. Cool

Bennetts Laughing

Its just finding the right bikes that have cheap insurance. When I did the Bandit, I was expecting something like £2000 to come back as I had done one on a GSXR750 and it came back at £7500 Laughing
There's about £20 difference in quotes between the Bandit 600 and the 1200.

Just been quoted for a 1989 Kawasaki ZXR 750 H1 - £300 TPO (I'm 20, 1 NCB).

Trick is to find a bike that isn't flavour of the month with new riders or hooligans. I ran a quote for an aged VFR 750 not long ago - came back very reasonable as I recall.
