Yes ive finally got the dosh to buy my new bike and chose my baby today!! After goin to leeds, then Harrogate I finally went round a few places in York where I live and found my new bike.
Its a RVF 400, P reg, 15000km, red white and blue (never dropped), full MOT, the best condition i have ever seen!! sadly completely standard (i wud of liked a hugger, dubble bubble or can) and cost me £3300!! I tried to get a private sale but all the ones under £3300 were always sold in a day!! and at least ive got the re-asurrence its not gonna break down right away. Oh and the cunts were askin for 3900! but i haggled em down )
Although the trip to leeds wasn't a complete waste cos i found J&S the motorcycle acessory shop were selling Alpinestar GP gloves for just £70 insted of £120.
What do u guys think then am i payin over the odds for my bike? i thought it sounded about right
I'll get a pic up here with in a week |

Welcome to the V4 club
You should be able to score a bubble screen for about £30 quid, hugger from £40 to £90 depending on if you want expensive carbon fibre jobbies or not, and a can would be anything from £150 to £350 depending on the make and materials.
Enjoy the bike mate, the price definitly sounds good for a dealer sale. |

seems u know ur stuff korn, any ideas for suspension sttings as i doubt they havent been fiddled with. Im 10 stone and ride mostly good roads that aren't that bumpyand hopefully very fast. Standard settings for now would do. I think its time to invest in the haines manual.
Cheers

I'm 13 stone and I've got the suspension set quite hard, if you ride long distanced you'll probably want something a bit softer... Anyway:
Forks preload all the way in then out 2 turns, rebound all the way in then 6 clicks out. Rear shock 80% preload, rebound all the way in then 4 clicks out.
Not totally hard-as-nuts because I like small country lanes which tends to throw a few bumps at you now and again, I've have a few slappers now and again but they were mostly pretty mild.
The V4's are pretty soft as standard, being as they're made to be ridden by 8 stone japanese blokes |

ive got some pics of my new bike but don't have a clue how to get them here, can someone help plz?
I picked it up yesterday but had to pretty much go to work straight away . I finished at nine and took it for a blast up the A19 and it was brill . Then it looked liked it was gonna rain so i legged it back home. Luckily it didn't so i went to pick my mate up and went south on the A19 then went most of the way to sherbun on the B1222, then back home . Ive been on it all mornin today and ave just stopped for my sunday lunch.
The bike only does 100mph with its restricters, but when i went to pick it up the mechanic said he'd whip em out for me next week . Oh and Korn the tyres are fucking ace, i got my toe down already to day on just one attempt of a roundabout and didn't have chance to go round again and change my foot position cos i wud have got my knee down for sure!! |

korn plz can i ask u one more question
I thought the exhaust system was the same kind as the vfr, as in its one big thing welded together (including the end can), but my rvf has a joint for the end can, which means i can easily take the standard off and fit a racing one . insted of mymates vfr which u have to buy another system (second hand) and weld a racing can or fabricate a joint. |

Personally I like the look of the twin can setup from JHA with one can on each side (bottom left picture). I made enquries last year as to cost and it would be something along the lines of £1200 for the full system (it's all titanium, don't ya know) and the cans. Although I think I'd be tempted to replace them with two blueflame cans instead...
Well, maybe when I win the lottery |
