Coming back from Leicester yesterday I came across a car being pulled over on the M69 between Leicester and Coventry. The police were using an unmarked silver Subaru Impreza. The rear light clusters had built-in blue lights but to be honest it would be very hard to spot without the lights flashing. It looked like a 2005/2006 model.

Watch out for it. Thumbs Up

I`ve never had the misfortune of getting tugged by one of these cunts (yet) but are there any sure fire ways to spot them if you come up behind one?

I heard that all stealth vehicles in the uk can be spotted by a series of extra antennas inside on the back parcel shelf.
Any thruth in it?
and there`s always 2 occupants in the car.

not so, most snakes i saw were alone when hunting

most unmarked cars can be spotted by looking for a few details

generally 2 rear view mirrors, either side by side or one under the other

usaually a 'black box' shape can be seen in the front window (looking through from behind) and is either at the top of the screen or at the bottom

the vehicle in question is usaually spotless and clean

the lack of any kind of garage stickers in the rear windscreen is a good give away (prevents firebombing of named premises?)

depending on the type of car there may be two tiny rectangular shapes in either the top or bottom corner of the rear winscreen for the disco lights

depending on the year of the conversion sometimes you can spot a blue tint in the light clusters for more disco lights

sometimes the snakes wear fluesent jackets (true!)

other times in a nice shiney white shirt with black shoulder tabs

if your just plain unlucky they may not even be in uniform, i still believe these conversions further aid revenue generation Thumbs Down

At least you're getting pulled by an actual person, who may or may not decide to give you a ticket based on a range of factors, not solely your absolute speed reading.

Compared to Scameras, traffic cops Thumbs Up

If they're not in uniform you don't have to stop Razz

I remember Stinkwheel posting about it awhile ago and how he didn't stop... He might be a long in awhile.

There is a blue unmarked impreza in the worcs area, its got roof bars with the very small light on the top, a couple of aerials on the roof, and a private plate....
There is also a silver skoda octavia and a black fabia estate. Ive been informed from a reliable source that the unmarked cars regulary change their plates just to try and throw us off the scent

Has any of you read streetfighter...

They have a "spot the pig section" where people write in and warn people about specific unmarked police cars in certain areas.

Maybe we should do something like that here Thumbs Up

if its infront of you, if it aint got any markings on the back end like 'corsa' or '1.2' be wary, look in the window as you go past.

if its behind you, too late, chances are you've over taken it, eithier do a runner or pull over and try and worm your way out of it.

If its on the opposite side of the road? if your even slightly suspicious... run, its going to take them a long time to turn around and if your doing a runner you'll be well gone.

You get a knack for spotting them after youve seen a few.
If anythings keeping up with you, eithier run or slow down and get a good look in their car for ariels and stuff.

+1 to that. I've always thought if your offence wasn't that bad and you are polite to the police and accept your mistake they will generally let you off with a warning.

Im intrigued at how you run from police cars when above 100mph you fall off even when going in a straight line

In the Malvern Worcester area I know of: 2 black Skoda Octavia saloons, 1 faded dark blue '90-'95 Mondeo Estate and there's a silver Peugot 206 somewhere I think.

I'm gunna start taking snaps of the numberplates and I'll start a new thread and post them up Thumbs Up

Very difficult now to judge by these alone. I followed a Skoda along a dual carriageway that was clearly the plod because of the lights visible in the back. However I have been pulled by a Vectra with lights that actually recede vertically into the boot compartment when they're switched off, leaving the parcel shelf empty of any tell tales.

The best way to tell is the dual mirrors and the box by the windscreen.

Here in Derbyshire we have to also contend with a blue unmarked speed camera van, which some would say has been deliberately disguised to look like a tatty builders van. Shocked

Bastards

Speed camera are dangerous in my opinion.

For example, the other day i was riding back from box hill and decided to overtake a car on a long straight road (by the m25 flyover if anyone knows it) I overtook this car, got back into position and out of nowhere a speed camera apears. Not wanting to get a ticket I slammed on the anchors and felt the rear tyre jumping. That could have easily caused an accident and my death if the person behind me didn't slow down. All because the poxy government want £60 off me. Middle Finger

But if you weren't speeding then you wouldn't have to slam on the brakes.

There is an astra in stockport, it has metal wheels, metal doors and panels, the colour is a mixture of white, luminous green and blue. It has the word police all over it and blue lights on the roof, it has sirens too just in case you miss it.

Thumbs Up
