Filled up at Morrisons this morning in Milton Keynes. They now have a company policy of not letting bikers fill up until they have deposited a credit card at the tills. Trying to fill up I was called over the loud speakers to go to the till and told out loud in front of all the other customers that they wanted my credit card first. Apparently, bikers are now being treated as criminals.

I have written a letter to the manager complaining about my treatment and asking what criminal checks have been made on his staff as there is nothing to prevent them from cloning the card whilst I am filling up.

Anyone else come across this? Being told to remove helmets was the thin edge of the wedge, now we have to deposit credit cards.

What Next???

Pay at Pump makes life a whole lot easier. No need to deal with the retards they seem to employ. Thumbs Up

I wouldn't hand over a credit card to some cashier, not without being able to see the card at all times!

Would have asked to speak to the manager of the petrol station to ask why this policy was implemented and why the policy only applies to bikers! Surely the reg number of the vechicle should suffice!

I leave my helment on when filling up with fuel, don't want to put it down and someone run over my lid!

Unless i really needed the fuel I would move on to the next petrol station.

+1 for Pay at Pump - easier, quicker, and no hassle - unless you've only got cash on you, of course - but that's rarely the case

I don't like the idea - it's discriminatory at best - why make bikers do it, and not car or truck-drivers, eh? They can just as easily fill up and bugger off without paying - so why penalise the bikers alone?

Just my 2 cents..

My local Morrisons are fantastic. I never take my lid off, and the guys there always have been friendly towards bikers. Sounds like you've found a filling station Hitler and you need to let his manager know.

Problem is though, there are so many of them.. Policies aren't always enforced, or non-existent policies _are_

Hi

You shouldn't let your card out of your sight. First thing on the list for avoiding credit card fraud.

No problems at my local Morrisons.

Pay At Pump is by far the best but only the local Shell garage has it here and its out of action half the time.

That's ridiculous, I work in a petrol station on weekends and bikers are probably our best customers. They're always polite, don't mess around and always remember to pay for their fuel, out of the time i've been working there I have never seen a biker drive off without paying.

Tell us if you get a reply from the manager Thumbs Up

Spot on advice in that link.... Then you maybe will never get to talk to me about you fraud Crying or Very sad

But this is a trend we are hearing about far more these days as certain petrol stations are targeted by the drive offs or people using stolen cards.
Best bet pay only cash..... Thats all i do Very Happy
Local Morrisons hasn't started this, but then again i'm well known to them. If they ask all i would leave would be my helmet.... No way i'm going without that, sure as hell would not leave any cards or such.

Oh for fuck sake! another shity morrisons company policy (yes unfortunately I work there - absolutely sick of the rules they seem to make up).

They won't let us use the cooking facilities (apart from the microwave) on nights. One member of night crew has been told he's not aloud to book a day's holiday and it has to be a week from now on. Smokers aren't aloud to go outside and smoke between the hours of 11pm and 6pm.

They also won't pay staff the extra if they work more than 39 hours in a week.

They're just some of the shitty rules that come to mind.

With regards to the smoking, they can not stop you from having breaks therefore you can go outside to smoke, however they can stop you from smoking on the premises! So that means the car park too!

With regards to the pay, then don't work more than 39 hours!

I would imagine there are far fewer 'drive-offs' with bikes cos it's hardly worth the potential grief for a tenner's worth of fuel.

Does depend on your tank size...

On my Hornet it was usually 11-13.

My car is closer to 30 than my bike! (about 40 now thanks to the ridiculously high rise in fuel prices)... my bike is 8 quid full tank Laughing

And +1 to pay at pump. It's a bitch when it's out of order or not reading your card properly. At my local fuel stop (Shell), it depends whether the f00ktard or the nice one is working. One is really nice and just lets me get on with it, the other does the whole announcing to the forecourt thing, but i just ignore it and stick my card in the pump.....

Who exactly shoots off after filling their tank? I mean, is it really that common as to result in companies implementing anti-biker policies? Sorry to be naive about it- i'm sure it happens, but as said above- surely the vehicle registration is enough?

Unless you're in a remote remote place, most garages are either owned by the company, or run as a franchise - ie. BP - and 99% of said chains/franchises have numberplate recognition CCTV as standard

We should all drop down by one Morissons on a busy Saturday and just take the pee with this.

Same with Tesco's and other popular garages.

The chaos it would cause will soon make them change their minds. Twisted Evil
