Tankbag question

Will a magnetic tankbag fit on my shiny new(to me) fzr600 genesis? Apparently it's a fake tank (whatever that means) and I don't have my tankbag with me at the moment so I can't try it. Bugger if it can't.

Explain further on fake tank?

Can you not get a mount for the fuel cap?

They also have leads that go round the tank to keep it secure and I am pretty sure you could bodge it somehow.

If its got a dummy tank then I doubt the magnets will be strong enough to hold it. Plus if they go as far as creating a dummy tank for "weight saving" etc, Then I wouldn't be surprised that the actual tank inside is made of alloy.


You can get strap on tank bags but it defeats the object of a tank bag as it isnt a case of whacking it on and off via magnets.

Have you looking into the tank covers? They sometimes come with clips for tank bags to fasten to. Like fast connector clip things.

Hi

The FZR600 has a seperate steel tank. What looks like the tank is a plastic cover over the tank and airbox.

Wouldn't think a magnetic one would stick.

Baglux / Bagster did do harnesses for their tank bags for the FZR600 (indeed if you want a red and white one I have a no longer used one in the garage).

The tank was placed lower in the frame years back to help with the handling so the 'tank' that you see is a plastic shell.

I just bought a tank bag, my TDM has a strange hump type thing going on so neither magnets of suckers work. I've bungeed it to the back rack.

This one came with suckers, you get four of them, they are surprisingly effective. I've only used one and its on there pretty solidly.

Its a Givi Arrowbag and has about a million zips.

My XF650 had a plastic cover over the tank and so a magnetic tankbag was no good. I had to settle for the Oxford First Time Strap-on (which is more than a mouthful), but Hein Gericke also do one: TRG All Rounder.
