Michelin Pilot Road 2

I'm looking for a decent tyre for a trip to Europe this summer. It'll have to last in the region of 3k miles without a change, and I've been recommended the Michelin Pilot Road 2. Anyone have any experience with this tyre, or have any other recommendations for a harder wearing tyre for a sportsbike?

I just put these on my 750 3 weeks ago, in that time I've put about 1400 miles on them (including a blast to Skye and back) and they still look brand new!

When I first got them fitted, I thought "no way in hell they are lasting as long as they say" as they feel really soft to touch, but proof unfolding before my eyes!!

Go for them mate!

My mate has Corsa3's on his B1h, and they don't look too clever at 2100 miles.

I`ve had mine a little over a month and can vouch for the above.They still look like new with 1000 miles on and they`re belting all-rounders.
I`m doing a tour in july where i`ll rack up another 2000 miles so it`ll be interesting to see how they hold up to that.
Rumour has it they`re easily capable of hitting 7-8k under normal use......

Lots of my customers have been using these. They've been brilliant in the wet and under hard riding conditions. One bloke put them on a GSXR 1000 K2 and they lasted almost 7000 miles.

I can certainly vouch for them.

5,000 miles on my VFR at the moment including a lot of motorway and they're barely worn. I ride like an idiot too.

I have gone a france italy 10 day run on these tyres and they are just starting to square off after 3500 miles that's on a heavy 1400gtr kawasaki they are lasting a lot better than the original BT21s fitted at the factory they were toast after 3000 miles

I might have to try a pair myself. My bt014 rear is squared off after 3500 miles, i cant afford to keep replacing tyres that often!

Can anybody do me a favour and try out the Dunlop Roadsmart? In Bike's Tyre guide (pg177 of this month's issue) it rated higher than pilot road 2's, and was also agreed by MCN staff that they were a good tyre - even tested it on gixxer 750's. The reason i'm saying this is because i'm looking for a set, and despite people telling me to get pilot road 2's over on MCN Ninjas - i've never had a pair of mitches' on my bike since my ped! I don't like the woody feel of bridgestones and i liked my dunlop qualifiers. FYI pirelli diablo stradas and Dunlop Roadsmarts got the highest scores in the test (5*), pilot road got 4* along with Metzeler Z6's and BT021's. Either way i think there should be a dedicated tyre thread on this forum, since people's riding styles are all different and would want recommendations and personal opinions too. Don't get bt020's if you are looking for feedback! Test bike for the magazine shootout was a triumph Sprint 1050

I have road pilot 2's on my FZ1 fazer and well I just dont like them on cornering and wet roads I prefer road attacks I had 4000 miles outta mine on a Z750S but chopped it in with lots more life into them.most tyres will last 4000 + miles if you go easy pull the throttle back to fast then you will see rubber fray before your eyes lol also depending on the bike too.I ride quick but not rubber burning quick !

My last pair of tyres were Conti Road Attacks. They are crap in the wet (on my Firestorm) but are quite grippy otherwise. They don't last anywhere near as long as the Michy Road 2's though. That applies to quite a few people I know that converted from Contis to Road 2's.

I have had Road 2s on my VFR for about 7k so far, the front has a good few thousand left in it, the rear is probably left with another 2k in it. They are brilliant tires with excellent all round properties, going to get another set as soon as these expire!

Really hope Pilot Road 2s work out for you!!

I've always had BT014s on my 7R, as they really do offer good grip and feedback. However, they usually only last me 2.5k - 3k miles (Which isn't usually a problem).

I've just bought another 7R to do my Euro trip on, and it currently has Avon Vipersports (?) tyres fitted, which I actually find equally as confidence inspiring, and I can't really fault them at the moment.

However, I have no idea how long they'll last, so before i start my 5k mile European trip I'll be fitting Road Pilot 2s, as I've seen many excellent reviews on longevity and performance over on MCNninjas .

In fact, I intend to fit Pilot Powers when I get back as I've heard excellent reviews on those too. I ain't bothered how long a tyre lasts whilst in the UK, as long as it offers good performance. But I really don't want the hassle of changing tyres whilst abroad, hence the idea of the Pilot Road 2s.

I've got roadsmarts on my vfr and they are awesome. Cant really say much about life of the tyres cause i have only done about 300 miles on them so far, but off to the Nurburgring next week.

i have them on my sv650s done 1000ish miles so far, hold well in corners and only just looking like they have started really worn in ive was advised them buy loads of people whio use them plus some of them use the pilots on track days too
