first major drop

ok, so yes when I first had my 125 and I was stodd at the side of it wheeling it around, I have dropped it once. but apart from that, in my whole 15 months of biking experience I havent had much problem with manouvering a bike (in the saddle or otherwise)

but on the way home last night after an awesome ride I came to a blocked road where there were two ambulances.

there was no room to pass so a couple of cars in from of me turned round and headed back in the opposite direction.

when it was clear for me, I started making a u-turn.both feet out, cos the bandits heavy. sure enough, I put more lock on to try and squeeze past the kerb and BAM, I'm on the floor.

I guess I didnt have enough drive and the lock was too tight and I couldnt hold the weight.

damage was minimal, just a snapped brake lever and a couple of scratches. I picked the bike up quickly and rode home a bit gutted.

I wouldn't say that I dropped my bike, more a gentle toppling or a laying down.

Indoors (I do my maintenance in a hall I have access to.) Engine off, sitting on the bike wheeling it around. It starts to keel over, we teeter for about a minute at which point I realise it's not going to work so I laid it down on the floor nice and easy. No damage, kept the handle bars straight, landed on the bar end bung thingies.

No one saw it so it doesn't count.

I had both feet on the floor and was sort of walking the bike round whilst using the clutch to drive the bike.I think I turned too quickly without the proper drive which sent me off balance, and then my leg couldnt hole me up

I dropped my Bandit for the first time the other day too. Never dropped a bike before in the space of a year.

Its a fucking awful sight seeing your pride n joy laying on the ground.

I was lucky and barely had any damage. Only thing ive noticed is the clutch lever. I now have to pull it in further and a little harder when starting the engine.

Never dropped my bandit, crashed it couple times though.

I remember U turns were the shizz on a bandit, almost as easy as on a cg. Full lock is good, I could turn mine round in under 3m, and that was with *I think* bent top yoke/bars/forks and renthal copies which were hitting the screen.

The easiest way to do it if you aren't too confident at the moment, is to both feet down paddle it, keep the clutch at bite point, 3k revs max (use the low down torque just above tickover here). Then if you start going too far or need more space, just clutch in front brake gently and then paddle it back. If you are on a hill trying to push your bike backwards, the only way I found I could move 200kg of steel up a hill backwards was to front brake on, compress forks and use the force of them coming back to push back. I don't know if this does your fork seals any good though.

I've suddenly realised just how good the low speed handling of a bandit is. You can move it on tickover, it turns very quickly and you can roll along at 2mph forever if you have the balance. However I found the rear brake was a bit twitchy for low speeds, I just used the front for most of it. Now I'm on a fzr600 I find it's a lot harder to manouver at very low speed, even though its a lot lighter.

dropped my dads normal FZ750 (as opposed to the genesis ) the other day, my legs cushioned the bike from any damage at all, but my knees took the impact, got some lovely big scabs now

I dropped my scooter after giving it a really good clean. I was wheeling it back towards the gate and tried to turn it more because I knew my dad would moan at me when he saw wheel marks on the grass. Leaned it away from me stupidly and it went down, I was next to a fence so I shoved my hand on the fence and while still holding my scooter just off the ground climbed over and picked it up.
