Ok, my current pair of Sidi Vertabrae corsa's have started to disintegrate after only about 14 months use, before these i had some Oxtar TCS which lasted a similar amount of time.
I want a pair of boots which will look good enough to take care of my vanity, protect me in the case of a crash and wont need replacing every year.

So far i think i'm going to go for a pair fo these:

The outer is replaceable on its own, but at £400 are they worth the extra money??

Yes worth every penny, obviously they are better and safer because they cost 400 quid, the price also means they will 100% outlast any other cheaper boot.

Can you let me know how you get on with them Laughing

My Sidi Corsa's haven't done well over the last year, the boots are not too bad. The little clips are on there way out and the soles have very little left !!

Ive been looking at the goretex daytona's found em for £339.00 https://www.slickbiker.com/Slickbiker/Biker%20Gear/Clothing/daytona-boots-motomod.htm

If you dont want goretex there only £309

Thats at least £60 I just saved you Wink (*cough cough Karma cough cough*)

Are they worth it ?? I dont know Smile

Cheers big jim, if they can provide them at that price its a hefty saving!
My corsas have come away at the sole on both boots, the pins holiding in the ratchets that stretch the cat gut across the toes keep on coming out. for a 200 quid pair of boots its unacceptable really, however i loved the look of them and couldnt be put off when it came to the purchase last year. ho hum.

I use em everyday and to be honest for £200 I wouldnt buy them again Smile Yes they look good, kept my feet dry even in heavy rain but the straps on the feet are useless, the vents always come open, the soles are made of cheese and the velcro has gone on the top of the boots.

Great boots for looks or summer riding but not for everyday riding through the winter Cool

My riggers cost twenty two quid at screwfix direct, water proof, oil proof, metal in the soles to stop things piercing them, lambs wool inside to keep me warm and tough as.....well.....old boots funnily enough. And they look alright if you don't mind what the fashion police think.

Cool

400 quid seems a bargain though.

Both BIKE and Ride rate them highly, especially the guy who had a big off while wearing them. They're waterproof, and because of the ability to replace the outer leather, they'll last and the replacement "pair" are only half the cost.

I was taken with the idea of Daytona's after my accident so at the NEC show in Dec I tried a pair on. I have to say I'm a 9.5 - 10 (British) fitting but even the size 11 just weren't right, I don't know if it's because they're a German boot or what? In the end I settled for another pair of Sidi's in size 10.5 (going up a half size as recommended because Italian's have narrower feet).

So I'd say whatever you buy make sure you try them on with the thickest pair of socks you're going to wear with them, that is your winter ones.

Oh and one final point, if you're used to high-up shin protection (like race boots) then the Daytona's may not be high enough.

Despite having a sole like a nike air max, and looking like something out of bf2142, I'm pretty happy with my teknics. Totally waterproof, and you can walk all day in em Razz

But surely your riggers will be awesome when you drop a heavy weight on them but not so hot on a side impact or twist to the ankle, so when your ankles snapped in half at least your toes will be good to go!

At least my toes will be cushty when a car drivers goes over my foot.

They offer some protection side on, maybe not for impact as much but I reckon the boot would twist before my ankle, and the leather and lining is well put together, and probably thicker than those 400 quid bike boots you posted. I am not saying they are better for the job intended of bike boots but they do good enough for me and I dont look like a power ranger.

All down to preference really.

Just to throw another pair of boots into the mix, my dads SIDI black rains have been warn day in day out for over two years and have held up fine, showing the expected wear and tear but all the zips and velcro and all the protection is fine.

Im yet to test my virtigo's but im not liking what ive heard so far about how the hold up to regular use Confused

bike will be on the road soon enough (if only i had a pound for every time ive said that) so ill get to test them out myself soon.

I've always sworn by Sidis but recently I've managed to break two pairs.

My Black Rain have started leaking badly since I stubbed my toe on a step. The front of the sole came away slightly from the boot and it leaks. I've tried every product for sealing it but it always starts leaking again.

My Vertebra 2s have broken the zip (not Sidi's fault but they choose the zips) slider and I struggle to do them up. I'm sure there's tools available to fit a new slider but I shouldn't have to.

Cheers

Grim
