Have you made sure your battery has a good charge? Are the terminals on the relay and battery clean and tight?

What was the problem with the old starter relay? Same?

Try putting a screwdriver with an insulated handle across the two terminals of the relay. It will spark so be prepared. Try and put equal pressure on both terminals. This should turn the starter over. If it doesn't then you either have another problem or this new relay's defective.

Give it a try and get back to us!

I figured this out the hard way myself too a couple of years ago. Had a bike with a broken starter, stripped it apart and cleaned it up, then tried it, only to try it off the bike (didn't work) so went and bought a used one and that didn't work either. My mum's bf suggested it may have to be earthed on chassis. Earthed the one I'd bought and then tryed the other and it worked. Thankfully was able to get a refund!
