There's a really slow leak (maybe one drop a day or two) of a dark grey metallic thick liquid and i have no idea what it is? I know i'm really silly for not checking it out properly but i've looked and so far can't see where the leak is coming from... Will take a proper inspection tomorrow but wondered if you had any thoughts?
I notice it in the mornings, and every other day there's been a new droplet.
Grateful for any money (two pences)/ advice, cheers ____________________ www.artridertraining.co.uk |

chain lube?
its not petrol, and unless you have freaky coolant or oil i dont know what else it would be, whereabouts is the 'middle' of the bike? ____________________ follow my racing season

I'd agree on it being chain gunk. I'd take your front sprocket cover off, I bet you'll be horrified at the slime lurking there!
Toothbrush and degreaser (I use Hyperclean) or WD40 is better than nowt.
I'd get it cleaned asap if it is that, as the metallic bits will be grinding your chain down nicely. ____________________ CBR125|||GSXR400|||CBR400|||CBR400|||CB250RS|||GSXR750|||CB250RS

i've toothbrushed and lubed my chain about 2/3 times in the past 2 months... so highly likely to be chain lube as suggested...The 'middle' being where the side stand is (when upright)
No, doesn't smell like fuel... But the chain lube i use is the spray on lubricant - it's transparent yellow in colour and quite runny, not thick and dary grey metallic... But i would guess it's the 'gunk' and grime sticking to the lube.
I've cleaned the chain guard (i use WD40 to clean) i'm quite sure it's pretty clean..and i checked the engine oil level- was over the full mark..
Thanks guys
will give it a proper clean again this weekend to put my mind at ease, and hopefully stop this freak leak. ____________________ www.artridertraining.co.uk |
