Just a thought so far...
Tom's Farm
| Quote: | Location
Cwmderw Farm. Landranger map 147, ref. 030-787.
Directions
From the center of Rhayader (the clocktower), take the A470 NW towards Llangurig for a few yards. Turn right onto B4518 just after arts centre/cinema, signed to St Harmon. Go through St Harmon & keep going to Pan-y-dwr. Turn right by pub/phone box towards Bwlch-y-Sarnau. When you get to a junction on a right-hand bend, go straight on - NOT right to Bwlch. This should take you into the forest. Look out for a left turn just after a right-hand bend, & take it. Follow this down, through the gate at the end of the forest, & behold the wonderland
Opening Times
Open every day at 10am, as long as there's nothing special happening - better to ring first to check.
Price
£10
Facilities
It's a 600 acre hill and also part of the Welsh 2 day event. Quads, 4WD's and bikes of any descrition are welcome. Watch out for the monster hill, at least 2 people have been airlifted to hospital with smashed legs, after riding off the top of it! You don't have to stick to the courses, anywhere goes.
It's definatey not a MX track but more of a free for all, just be aware of other riders / drivers. |
You tube says...
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=tom%27s+farm+wales&search_type=
Google maps says just over 3 hours away from here.
You can camp there, or, I'm sure, find a local B&B.

I'm up for that, 4x4 for me rather than the bike though. 99% sure I'll be going, can fit two bikes on the back of my truck if anyone wants a lift. |

Sounds kinda fun but I've got a trackday a couple of days afterwards, and I don't really want to break myself... ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |

If anyone wants to see the tracks they are about 3-km from a place called Davids Well.
Its quite easy to see on https://www.flashearth.com/
Still considering this, maybe in next few weeks. Probably cant get the bank holly off and i expect it to be busy! Sometime in early June. ____________________ Dave

On adrenaline trip it also received mixed reviews - however those saying "it's boring" seemed to be the ones wanting an all-out track experience (be it enduro or mx), while those happy to wander around trail riding thinking they wouldn't have enough time to try everything available given a few days.
At the moment, I'm thinking (if it happens) heading up on Saturday, stopping in and doing a 'trial for trail bikes'* on Saturday morning then on to Tom's Farm for Sunday and Monday.
Could always make it a day at Tom's farm and a day trail riding after that - think the brecon beacons 'the gap' route isn't too far away?
Ste - think part of it is that you can legally 'go anywhere' in the area.
Still all up in the air - welcome people's opinions .
*Other people are of course welcome to play too - it will cost you £10 for your ACU licence and £16 for the entry to the trial. Starts at 1pm, entries need to be in by next monday. Is, of course, a 'just a bit of fun' event, nothing serious and designed for trail bikes, as you might guess by the name. |

Hehehe loved to but going to Glasgow for the bank holiday weekend (work) joy.
Also if the track day's anything to go by my riding muscles have gone to pot, by the last session my neck and hands were giving up
The next day wasnt pleasent for the rest of my body, lots of ouching and ooching,
not impressed by inline 600's, didnt notice that much difference between the sv'650 and the zx6, sv times lots quicker I reckon, plus andyone on a litre bike just flew past me

I'm off to Colin's farm at the weekend.
Cheaper (free), closer (20mins), sounds a much better site than tom's farm, and I won't have to watch out for those daft two wheel things buzzing around getting in the way. |

Free cos Mr Bishi is footing the bill for some reason.
Distance does suck cos my high performance vehicle drink lots of fuel but if its somewhere good like KORC which is ~5hrs each way then its well worth the drive. Not so sure if tom's farm is worth the drive.
If tom's farm turns out to be good then it'll be the ideal place to test L200 vs bike. Widow Maker doesn't look bad but bikes don't seem to get on with it too well. Then we can find deep water and see how that is for bike vs l200.
Although there wouldn't be much 'test' about it as the clearly superior L200 would win easily. |
