would like to know who has had this done as i have sourced some washers for my wifes bike and will be restricting that over the weekend. but want to know if anyone has a certificate that they can scan in and send me the full sized pic of so i can doctor it.

i know its all stored on a national data base so would change some numbers but it just annoys the hell out of me that although shes going to be restricted that the police can just take her bike and dyno it, so just want something else to look good with her other documents.

The certificate means NOTHING. If the restrictors are there and you don't have the certificate they police cannot touch you. If you don't have restrictors, but have the certificate, they can, will and do still bust you.

If they think it's not restricted they will exmaine it regardless of the docs you have.

Save yourself the hassle, just put the restrictors in.

the restrictors are going in, shes only just passed her test and is still a little uncertain, 33bhp is going to be plenty for her for a while.

the insurance company dont want a certificate, but i have seen guys pulled over at the side of the road and there bikes taken to be dyno'd, this has happened to a friend of ours and he had restrictors in (luckily as he was talking about taking them out), the police then got him to come and fetch his bike and that was that.

i just want something a little more so at the side of the road she can say, 'yes its restricted', 'yes i have a certificate' and if they still are getting on her case, 'yes its an impressive rack'.

Saying yes I have a certificate won't make a difference to the copper.

It's just a waste of the paper. That same paper could be used to make an air filter.

Seriously though just seems a waste of time and effort to me, more so the fact that you are also technically forging documents too.

The certificate seriously proves fuck all. No point in it whatsoever. It's just a red piece of paper. Don't bother wasting your time.

(Yes I do still have mine and no my bike is not restricted)

no im not forging a document.

the document will look very very similar to the original but there is no law stating that i cannot make a document stating that my vehicle has 33bhp and then get it signed and dated by a garage or some place similar.

the bike will be restricted that isnt the issue, christ she will be riding legally which is a lot more than some people on here. all i want is something that if they do pull her over she can show them. i know its not worth anything but it might just be enough to stop a copper hauling her bike in for a dyno run and putting her off the road for a few days.

If they believe that the bike is not restriced and as above that bit of paper proves nothing and they can/will take the bike for testing

Well... you are forging a document... It's a "certificate" that comes directly from FI international. Certificate numbers, etc.

And if the police think the bike is not restricted then a piece of paper isn't going to stop them from taking the bike. It really is not worth it for the time.

jesus.. i am not forging a certificate as it will not have the FI international logo (or whatever) on it.

i want it to look genuine so will use the FI as a kind of template to see what information is needed on it.

i know the FI certificates are worthless thats why i refuse to pay £200 for the pleasure, i will make my own and get a friendly garage to sign it.

i was talking to a copper yesterday (informally at a garage) who works in traffic and is going to armed response and was asking about certificates etc and he admitted he didnt have a clue, doesnt even know about bike license restrictions. so if she got pulled by him, fine he doesnt know.

i cant understand you lot, you will tell someone they dont need to get an fii kit and to do it themselves and get a dyno print out or something similar. this is what im trying to do but cutting out the cost of dyno but your telling me not to?

The dyno printout if purely for insurance companies. Insurance companies that want proof of restriction only accpet either a dyno print out or an FI certificate.

You may as well just do something in word saying the numberplate and frame number then type is restricted to 33bhp. If you REALLY want something to fob a copper off with.

Because a dyno actually shows something. It shows where the power is being made and at what revs, etc.

The paper just says "oh it has been restricted"

But, at what power? What revs?

obviously an FII certificate only says its restricted too, but they are accepted by insurance companys.
my wifes insurance company doesnt want a certificate or anything and the odds of her getting pulled are really slim as she doesnt ride fast etc. so it doesnt need to be official. just look good.
i dont know it probably is a shit idea, but if i can do it and come back in 6 months and say she got pulled and the copper was happy with it and didnt cart her bike off then it will be all worth while.
i could say its pointless even restricting it because the odds of her getting pulled anyway are pretty slim, but the way cops are cracking down on bikes this year seems crazy, i saw them doing a spot check on bikes the other week, just pulling in bike after bike, about 7-8 at a time.

my local place does single dyno runs and a print for £25. Probably the cheapest and easyest way to have some proof.

If you really want a certificate they are on sale on ebay for 30 quid odd.

But as I am going to and as most would advise fit the washers then get it dyno'ed.

had mine fitted with cert from F1, took the bike from having sugery round the corner to a friends and took them back out again, they wernt in ten mins.

mine was slightly different, i was riding for 6 months then they phoned me and said "oh, we forgot to ask is it restricted"

never been in since, infact they were and still are on my key ring, im out of my restriction by about a year.


Oh and if anyone wants a print out, i should be getting my dyno set up in a few month

minimum requirements for restriction:

restrict the bike

thats it.....
.....no seriously, thats all you need to do


things to make it easier on yourself:

restrict the bike, get a dyno run and keep the printout with you

however, even then, you could have taken the kit out after the run was done so the poh-lice might want to dyno your bike themselves anyway
