2000 CRB600FY. Private carpark, alarm, chain, ground anchor.
Social, domestic & pleasure plus commuting. Pillions.
Female, 26, 3 years NCB, 1 year 10 months full licence, living in Slough.

Last year (admittedly living in London and parking onstreet) - £660. Renewal from H&R for the above details - £496

Excel sheet is attached with all the details, but the winner was Elite Underwriting with £250, including cover to ride any bike. Rock on Thumbs Up Very Happy

Big love to Danny who did all the phoning round for me (he's a student and he needs money, I'm lazy) - I can highly recommend his services even if he did give me the flu. Rolling Eyes

Question Exclamation Twisted Evil

..but on a serious note.. even their Fully Comp quote seems good value. Let me know how it goes with 'em Bendy and I shall give em a call at renewal time... which is coming up far too soon! Laughing

I figure if I get through this year without incident I'll have 4 years NCB and then it's time to start protecting it and going FC. Cool

I just got my renewal on my NSR which was £700 TPFT with Shakespeare insurance. It might sound a lot but considering that I have the following stats :

23 yrs old
no NCB
Provisional licence with CBT
DR10 drink driving conviction from last year

All in all not as bad as I thought it would be. Don't know what they are like with normal law abiding people.

Elite were the only ones that came close to CIA on my 'Blade renewal, about £50 higher I think.

I am available to get people's insurance down for a small fee. Smile

I will have to start charging for giving people the flu.*

When it's at the point that you can't physically get out of bed for 2 days, it's the flu. And what's my window got to do with anything?

Car window... but it had been doing that for a week. Only when you turned up and started complaining of a sore throat did the lurgee begin. Razz

Given the appalling state of my immune system, I might start disinfecting people as they enter the building. Like when you go to Australia. Thumbs Up

Have just heard the most stupid reason for not insuring someone ever while phoning around for quotes.

Went through the routine, answered all the questions etc, gave all the right info. Got to the question about my occupation and I said that I was a public relations consultant. She then asked what sector. Explained that I am freelance and that I work in a variety of different fields with different clients, nothing set in stone.

She asked if I dealt with anyone from the entertainment industry. I said it is possible sometimes as I work in sports PR in various ways.

The response?

Sorry, we can't insure you, our underwriters won't touch anyone who has links or works within the entertainment industry.

My reply?

Eh? They're not going to ride my bike, I am. Confused Rolling Eyes

What do famous people do when they want insurance then???

Advice?

Don't try getting a quote from Motorcycle Direct . co . uk Thumbs Down

Same thing Adam. Work for a record company, therefore no quote from someone. Rolling Eyes

They claim it's cos you 'may give a lift to a celebrity'. More like they're worried you ride like a nutter cos there's fair chance that you're a cokehead. Thumbs Up

I was a bit put ot to begin with. Then just thought that they obviously didn't want my hard earned cash so I said thanks for their time and put the phone down.

Best I've had is from Virgin or Yamaha direct, they were exactly the same, I'll go with one of them instead. Cool

Is the thumbs up because you actually ARE a cokehead, or just that you really ride like a nutter. Razz Wink

Hey, I can't destroy the myth for all the kids out there. Wink

Yes, the music industry is soo sex and drugs and rock and roll that you wouldn't believe! Never spend weeks on end in front of a computer doing boring things. Neutral

Yeah, I couldn't see how writing a press release or talking to a journalist about something couldn't invalidate my insurance... Confused Rolling Eyes

I do quite a bit of motorsport too, cars mostly, but I have never had a problem with that for my car insurance, and never been refused for a quote because of it.
