Looking to get a new visor for my helmet, but I'm not sure whether it would look cool or tacky...
My original reason for getting it is due to low sun anoying me, but it's got to look the part too Cool

If you would say they are good rather than bad, which do you think would look best on my helmet, black or silver mirror? (see pics for my helmet & potential visors).

Thumbs Up

Got a tinted pinlock insert on mine, only £17 and easier to change if too dark or get pulled by the fuzz.

I think they are necessary if you don't wear sunglasses underneath

It's an essential piece of safety equipment for me! Would get stupid glare riding west at 5PM after work if it weren't for these.

In my opinion it's much easier and quicker to change a visor rather than a pinlock insert.

Fair point, I was thinking more from a practicality point of view of in easier to store as smaller and more flexible.

They are quite considerably cheaper than a separate visor.

They're cool and, in my opinion, necessary when it's bright. I wouldn't ride in sunny conditions without mine.

i had an iridium one once, was really cool til it got a little scratched, also is a pain in the arse carrying my clear one with me so i fucked it off and got a tinted pinlock, its easier to carry a clear one of them in my pocket than another soddin visor!

Probably uncool but if you wanted to carry a tinted visor have you seen these?

Black visors are useful, not tacky. Wouldn't ride with sun glasses as you can't take them off easily when you go through a tunnel or a dark/shady bit of road where as you can just flip a dark visor up.

Dark visors are a pain at night.

I always wore sunglasses on sunny days until buying my Schuberth which has a built in flip down sun visor. Brilliant.

I wear a blackie and never carry a spare. I'll only put a clear one if I know I'm going to be out late or the weather is overcast. Thumbs Up

Dark visors are nice, but pinlock for the win Thumbs Up
Mines tinted, dose a great job in high/low sun and you can take out/put back on in seconds.
No need to carry a 2nd visor if you get caught out at sunset Thumbs Up

I didn't read the thread but I'll throw in my Penny Coin Penny Coin.

Unless you want some serious hassle, DON'T get an iridium one. I love the look of mine but it is such a pain in the ass that I only wear it on rare occasions on the road. The iridium film that is applied scratches stupidly easily - you can't wipe off water with your glove or even wash it with a cloth because you'll damage it! In order to clean it you need to put it under running hot water (or submerge it for a while) to loosen the crap and then gently clean it with your clean hands.
The visor itself is clear, so when the iridium coating is scratched you get really obvious white marks visible from the inside.

Next time I'm getting a blacked out one - much easier to manage.

+1 for the tinted pinlock.

It has 4 uses.

1. It looks like you have a blacked out visor = cool
2. It makes sure your visor NEVER fogs up.
3. If it gets dark or the police pull you, you can simply take it out and store it
4. It's cheaper than a new visor and dosen't get scratched either
