Does anyone know if there`s any easy way to work out:

1) how much extra pressure i need to put in my tyres for a 8 stone pillion
2) how much adjustment i need to give the suspension for a pillion (same weight as above)

I know this question`s probably a long shot but any help is appreciated.

Bike would be useful Wink

Here we go for a guess.

I'll go for 36 on the rear for solo and bump it up to 42 for a pillion. Leave the front as is.

Suspension? One notch up on the rear preload and see how it goes.

The setting will be in the owners manual.

its an 06 6rr (stock settings) with michelin PR2s on.

I`ve done a lot searches/googling and 40-42psi rear seems standard for pillion....but nothing gets said about the "weight" of the pillion so i don`t see how it can be a universal psi for all?

Have you seen or read anything anywhere that mentions bodyweight in relation to the psi?...it can`t be the same pressure for an 8 stone girl and a 15 stone lad can it?

Ill give the rear shock one click like you say and go from there with the suspension.... but i need more help with the rear tyre pressure question....(going touring)
Cheers

It should be listed in your bike workshop/owners manual, but as Ichy said for a guide my bike runs 35/36psi f/r with preload 4 clicks off max solo, with a pillion I put 41psi in the rear and turn it up 2 clicks. Thumbs Up

Why not? Does the owners manual have different tyres pressures for different weight riders?

The pressure in the tyre is your basic, rough arsed, suspension, somewhere between low enough to absorb some of the shocks and provide a good contact pad, high enough to stop the tyre from deforming too much, slipping sideways. The fine tuning is done by the shocks and forks.
