If your asking that you shouldn't be messing with your engine, you have put something back together wrong or have an airleak somewhere in the system.

Go over it again and when you fix it leave it well alone.

Sounds like you have removed the carb, and put the throttle slider in the wrong way around?
Explain exactly what you have done, in english (remember, your not writing a text) and someone will be able to tell you where you have went wrong.

Right, im not great with nsr's (just ask my own!) but i'v egained some experience. now as far as im aware there is a plate in between the carb and the engine, it should have a relatively small hole in comparison to that of the carb rubbers. remove this. next you need to change your CDI to a derstricted unit as well as remove the baffle from your exhaust.

after this you will need to upjet your carb to compensate for the drestriction/extra air/fuel being allowed into the engine.

Personally, i reckon your probabaly on 'L' Plates anyway so shouldnt derestrict it... but im also guessing you have absolutely no idea what so ever so do what you like Thumbs Up

The idle is the large screw on the rhs of the carb needs turning in to increase idle, out to decrease butr i wouldnt do that when the engines cold, or not jetted correctly.

And I don't think you can put the carb slide in the wrong way round, it has a locating slot, but dont quote me on that!

Alains practically told me everything i know about the NSR after buying a very dodgy example so he's your man if you can type in half-decent english!

In my experience you can,but obviously it doesnt fit right, which causes the bike to rev flat out.
Made this mistake on my chinese 125 and my mates xlr125...not sure about on the nsr though,i was just guessing.

Wey heres your problem, you dont have a clue!

K and N filter, you'll need to upjet your carb to take into account the less restricted air flow.

You Tried to allow more air/fuel into the engine by removing the intake restrictor, the carb would need upjetting to compensate for this, but with the K and N i can almost gurantee you were running lean if you didnt upjet which basically means you have too much air: fuel in your mixture.

By half heartidly derestricting the bike, and then fitting the filter, you'll have messed up your jetting, return the bike to as close to standard as you can and get a mechanic to sort it.

Leave it alone sunshine. You'll regret messing with it when you blow your engine. Pass your test and buy a more powerful bike.

The idle adjuster is usually a screw on the side of the carburettor with a spring on it. It works by stopping the slide from falling down by the fact that the slide has a sloping notch in it for adjustments.

You can fit the slide in backwards on most small carbs, but it will only slide down until the notch for the idle screw hits the locating pin, which should locate in the slot the other side of the slide.

Relax, its good that you gave it a go, trouble is that its never as easy as it sounds.

There is a guy on here by the name of Alains. He knows EVERYTHING about nsr's. The thing is that the guy is French so he needs you to explain everything in good English, he can't translate slang or txt talk.

If he replies to any of your posts then follow his instructions. Do that and the bike will fly.
