Just had my first ride on my new SV650S.

Oh. My. God.

Having never ridden anything bigger than 125 (my YBR, so not even a 2 stroke 125) the power is just stupid. When setting off I twisted the throttle a 'normal' amount to set off on my YBR and before I knew it I was doing just under 50mph Shocked Only a few hickups (i.e. locking the rear wheel on the A27 Confused ), but other than that a great ride home.

Big thumbs up for the SV Thumbs Up Will be whoring pictures of it once I get some Mr. Green

Just thought I'd share the historical move onto my first 'big bike' Very Happy

Its a great feeling aint it.
I did exactly the same first time I pulled away after going 50 to 600. Twisted throttle amount I would on the 50 which was about 5k Confused
Enjoy it.

Going from my CD250U to a ZXR750 has been educational, to put it mildly. Open the taps a bit and the speedo zooms up even when you're already going pretty quickly. Definitely requires more discipline than something like a 125 or 250.

I didn't have the trouble of abusing the throttle initially though as I was far too scared of it! Got used to it now so am more comfortable with the amount of power it puts down.

I'm looking forward to sorting the low-end fuelling out (currently it coughs and splutters between ~3-4.5k due to being too rich), as the torque will be enough to glide around in top gear pretty much everywhere.

My card reader is currently kaput, but it's this one. It's actually in pretty good nick bar the slight fuelling issue and passed its MOT first time. The fairing damage he mentions is really very superficial - just slight grazing and one small crack.

Hopefully after our SW rideout tomorrow I'll have some proper pics.

I think it will be fun when I go from a 50 to a 600 when I am 17.

Will be a wake up to what biking is really about I think. Will have to learn to be steady on the old throttle Very Happy

I rode my 650 after never riding anything more than a 125 yesterday too!

It seemed king of daunting thinking about it before hand but after setting off it just seemed natural, only did about 60 miles all day though since i was working Sad

It wasn't too bad for me, I went 50, 125, 250, 500, 1000. Going from the GS500 to a Firestorm was a fair old jump though

Nice choice of bike mate Thumbs Up

Take it easy though - more weight & more power = more stopping distance & more thinking-ahead needed. In a couple of weeks you'll feel alot more comfortable on it but it can still catch you out Smile
