and my throttle cable snapped just as I went to pull away. Sad Had to push it 1500m to a mates house according to my speedo. Will this be under warranty even though I tightened it up. I asked the garage I bought it from to come and pick it up and they said tommorow earliest and I have GCSE's all week so I might be off the road for a while. Damn. Mad

With Instigator on this one, they might do it for you as a measure of goodwill, but that is their choice.

It's a consumeable mate. Best off buying a new one and buying a spare at the same time, ideally, we would all be carrying spare throttle and clutch cables in case of emergencies.

Replacement cables don't generally cost over £14 and that's for a Jap. bike. Should be (far) cheaper for yours. Smile

Agree with Instigator and Kal. You'll probably have to pay for it.

Hard to say but between five and fifteen pounds for the cable and no more than thirty pounds for the labour.

I wont be tightening the new one up too much Smile I really liked the lack of slack (unintentional ryhming) with the old one but obviously too tight.

You do need a little bit of play in the throttle (a few mm or so). At least you now know!!

Get a cable yourself from a shop and fit it yourself. Only take 10-20mins maybe 30 if you f*** things up.

Its not difficult and you won't have to have your bike taken from you.

Hmmm I considered it, But I wouldn't know where to start. The fairing on my Ped is quite hard to access. If it was on my off road bike I probably would.

Fuckin A . I'm so glad too. I can't believe I may have missed the nugget of entertainment had the 'must read' not been in the title.

Don't see why a 57 plate bike should suffer a snapped cable, unless you were wringing it's neck and just turned too hard on the grip (which is stupid because once the butterfly is fully open and further turning possible by brute force would start to close it again), cab;es normally last for years. Certainly, removing the free-play from cable wouldn't snap it, though it can be bloody dangerous.

Next time you adjust the free-play, make sure you turn the bars fully left and right afterwards, with the engine ticking over. If there is any change in revs, loosen it off a bit until there is none.
