 |
|
DAS next week and was at a wedding this weekend when 2 of my girlfriend's friends told me they were selling 600/650CC good starter bikes.
One has an 05 Fazer and one a SV650 (which I think was 2005 but the wine had kicked in by this point - think the prices will be cheap and similar so which would you go for as a first bike.
I'm erring towards the SV as the Hyosung GT650R I was looking at has the same engine ____________________ bikes: SV650S K5 that is making me do this 57 CBR125 RW-7 - sold ; 54 CBR125 - anyone wanna buy a project?
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE. |

I've not ridden a Fazer so I can't comment on that, but I have ridden a mate's SV and found it very easy to ride; very forgiving - good for a novice rider IMO
I'd therefore suggest the SV, providing you're happy to have a twin rather than a 4-cyl (which you obviously are if you were considering the Hyosung).
Nice to have a choice, at least! ____________________ Dead nobodies in company cars... |

Notice Marjay the important phrase, "in my opinion"
So if you jump down some one neck for offering a opinion you need to seek advice from your phyc

SV650. I've just come from a YBR, with my SV650S being my 2nd ever bike, and am finding it great If you want to be more upright, get the non sport version, as the S is quite 'forward'. ____________________ Full licence from 16/4/08

I would say that he 'pwned' the SV, not the other way round. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

I've been taking a look at the used SV650-S prices for the K5 models (ie one's made in '05, like mine, as opposed to '04 models that happened to be sold in '05 - keep an eye out for that on the used market...), and they seem to vary between £2500 and £3500, which is obviously a hell of a difference. I can only assume it's condition/mileage/accessories etc. that's making the difference. I'm going in to get her fully serviced and MOT'd before I sell her as she hasn't run for a few months, just to make sure she's in good nick, so I'll have a word with the guys at George White's and see what they reckon of mine.
The bike's got very little mileage on it - after the London move we quickly realised it was gonna be murder keeping them just parked on the street - just a couple of thousand miles if I recall correctly, if that. After-market stuff on it is just the bare essentials really - braided steel brake hoses (replaces the original rubber ones, makes braking feel a bit more positive), top-quality black R+G crash protectors, mudguard extender (stops crap getting sprayed into the engine when it's wet), and a scratch protector on the tank. Oh, and a ScottOiler (little thing that oils the chain for you) and, naturally for London, a Datatool Level 3 alarm/immobiliser. This is pretty much the standard list of "Things To Add To An SV650"; no performance-related bullshit. Otherwise stock. Tyres are in good nick, engine seems fine - it may need a new battery after so long sat still in a garage, but I'll take care of that at the MOT. Attached are some pictures; my Mum took them, so they're not really "advert quality". Please don't laugh at the poses, I have a fragile ego.
Let me know if there's anything else you wanna know, or any other photos you want me to take when I'm getting it serviced. |
What do you reckon a good price would be for that little lot? ____________________ bikes: SV650S K5 that is making me do this 57 CBR125 RW-7 - sold ; 54 CBR125 - anyone wanna buy a project?
