Well, i am one of these folk on here who like to have shiny downpipes,

so i was disappointed that during winter i had let mine get like this

https://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a105/rawkguitarist/DSC00214.jpg

so about an hour with autosol and elbow work i got it back to this

https://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a105/rawkguitarist/DSC00220.jpg

this was all around a few months ago, and i was keeping ontop of keeping them shiny... until 2day.

was taking the missus back to her and noticed a plastic bag flying its way towards me!

"shit what do i do" i thought??

if i didn't have the missus on the back a quick swerve would have worked.

but as she was on the back i thot, "i'll just ride over it"

so it goes under front wheel, and then i can't see it in my mirrors.
then i think it just went to the side and dissapeared to the land of bags.

couple of minutes later,

"hmm what is that toxic smell"

*looks down the front left side of the bike*
"hmm must be nothing"
*looks down front right*
"ohh ffs (well the full words not the shortened version)"
i saw this
https://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a105/rawkguitarist/DSC00301.jpg

ohh well i know what to do 2moro!

anyway, lesson of the day is, actually i don't know what i learnt from this experience, maybe if i want an excuse to clean the bike, run over some plastic bags.

Learn to swerve with your misses on the bike too, it might save both your lives one day...

I also hate plastic bags, i have managed to avoid them thus far but i am always worried when i approach one, especially if there is a car infront that has just created a vortex and the bag could go either way ... decisions decisions

well i spent a wee while on it 2day and got it cleared!

first problem was it was stuck solid on and it wouldnt budge, so intelligence kicked in "why not start the bike so it heats the plastic to melt again"

so did that along with wire wool, autosol and a cloth.

before

After

nice and shiney Cool

Years ago when I had my Diversion 600 I had a plastic bag get caught on my front brake calliper. I thought I’d pull over and untangle it and planned to stop just after the next roundabout.

I braked for the roundabout and the bag got sucked into the calliper between the disk and pads. The effect was like Teflon coating the disk and I was left with almost zero front brake (only one disk on the Divvy in those days).

A few bouts of super-heavy braking burnt most of it off, but it was scary for a while and smelt real bad.
