ave just passed my test and have a NC29 ready to go, I have had an insurance quote for £300.64 fully comp from H&R which includes legal cover and something called excess insurance, basically this covers my excess in the event of a total loss claim, so if my bike is stolen or written off due to fire or accidental damage etc I just pay £100 does this sound okay ? all of the other quotes I have had were around £290 but with excesses of around £300. Obviously if my bike has minor damage I wouldn`t bother claiming anyway but chances are with these old 400`s any major fairing damage would result in it being written off anyway as the cost of repair and respraying these would be at least £700 plus, what are peoples thoughts on this ? thanks Very Happy

It's £10 more to get the excess knocked down by £200. I would go for the £300 quote.

Excess comes into play for any repairs also, i.e. if you have a £300 excess, put in a claim for £310, you pay the first £300.

this is ture but my dilema is I either take a policy which offers £100 excess for total loss claims only and pay for any minor damage myself or have the other policy with £300 excess but covers me for any damage irrespective of the amount !! not sure which cover is best to have really ?

The £100 excess would work the same as the £300 excess. Take the £100 one.
