Today I was pulled by police,

No restriction
No Tax (waiting for log book)
Undertaking a line of cars at double the speed limit.

Got off with a lecture Laughing

I was bricking myself, let me explain though it's not as bad as it seems, I still haven't got my logbook through from the DVLA once i get it I will get tax. The roads was the A13 it was by Becton it is a 3 lane road (basically a twisty motorway) with a 40 limit, I decided to blast past a line of cars in the middle lane with a police car behind me noob error. After ending up in the outside lane I was doing about 90 and I see blue flashing lights in my mirrors.

I pulled off the A13 and pulled up in safe location, bloke comes over and starts a lecture mostly about how the majority of drivers in Newam are Asians or Africans and have shit heap motors with no tax mot or anything, He didn't really say anything about my riding other than I shouldn't have undertaken the car. He said I needed to calm down and called my bike a beast Laughing (TDM900) He didn't even ask my name! I was so releaved. I'm fairly sure the only reason he didn't fuck me was because although I undertook people and was speeding he could see I was riding well if that makes sencepulling over properly etc. I also think the fact the bike is sensible helped alot to. So happy right now.

Pfft amateur. I was out about two weeks ago for a couple of drinks. Had about 4 pints and a bottle of Corona. Last drink was around 10PM. Was driving home from Exmouth at about 2AM (went down to my little secret spot complete darkness to go and chill with my best friend and her boyfriend and had a couple of fags)

Got pulled over after joining a two lane road at about 110mph in my cage. Got a bollocking about going too quickly and how I could have a hit a drunk person and killed my friends in the car and the pedestrian. Asked if i'd had anything to drink and told them the above list. Blew a negative...twice. He said don't do it again. I was bricking it and drove 30 all the way home, haven't broken the speed limit since. Properly needed that wake up call.

Never forget getting pulled over for having a mate sat backwards on the pillion seat of my rf.

Riding around bust town centre on a Friday night showing off loads of backfires and one wheel action.

My mate wanted a mcdonalds so we went and got him one from the drive threw still sat backwards had a bit of banter with some van drivers then back to town to show off.

Spotted the blue lights coming down the road pulled in and they lit us up. My mate was still sipping his drink and waving at the cops Laughing

Poh-leese showed up from the next county Laughing

They had been watching us on cctv for a good 30 mins before coming down.

Wanted to ticket my mate for sitting incorrectly but theres now law stating he couldn't sit the wrong way.

Let us go with a better rider course thingy.

Good times. Karma

I live in Newham and that policeman is damn right about the cagers here... the standard of driving is utter shit, as a cyclist or motorcyclist you take your life into your own hands when you go out... Example: I get abuse from these cunts every time I stop outside a box junction and wait for traffic ahead to clear so I won't be sitting in it. Also happens when I stop in front of one of those KEEP CLEAR areas. I'm not getting fined for their impatience, fuck them! Yesterday, was waiting to turn right at the end of a one way street, guy in a 4x4 pulls up on my left beside me wanting to do the same (!) and tries to undertake me on the right turn! I sound my horn then he later turns right and makes some sort of gesture, but I think he lost control a bit as he did it, too bad he didn't crash. Evil or Very Mad

It's a daily thing here. Sad

Don't think there's a law that states they have to sit the right way, a few years ago on the way to Ireland there was a kid sat the wrong way round reading a book on the top box on his dad's bike. Laughing

Read the 2007 revision of the highway code yesterday and I'm sure it says you have to face forward now.

Don't they close the roads for things like cycle racing? And closed roads aren't under normal highway legislation.

Sorry to prolong the debate.

The current highway code says:-

Highway Code wrote:
85

You MUST NOT carry more than one pillion passenger who MUST sit astride the machine on a proper seat. They should face forward with both feet on the footrests. You MUST NOT carry a pillion passenger unless your motor cycle is designed to do so. Provisional licence holders MUST NOT carry a pillion passenger.

[Laws RTA 1988 sect 23, MV(DL)R 1999 reg 16(6) & CUR 1986 reg 102]

So it says you should, but does not say "MUST" or "MUST NOT" about the direction the pillion should be facing so it is not a legal requirement.

All the best

Keith

Not always in this country. During the Tour of Britain they used a rolling system where a team of police bikes and riders for the organisers rode a few miles ahead that stopped traffic. Although there were a few incidents that occurred because of the loopy system, including the Pelaton going the wrong way!

For the Start of the Tour de France last summer there was a much higher level of organisation and many roads were shut. But that's a bigger deal with a lot more cash involved.

The highway code is guidance and thus has no basis in law, it can only be used to back up law, so if you crashed whilst having a pillion backwards then it could be classed as a contributing factor, but the actual act of having a pillion riding backwards isn't illegal.

Back OT, I am always kinda wary on the A13. On the way home (London to Southend direction) i slow down a little when there are cars joining the A13 from the side slip road because i've seen police cars parked up right behing those slip road walls with speed guns... because my bike can achieve over 100mph according to some kids these days Laughing

and +1 being cautious with those newham cagers!! Evil or Very Mad
