Meh, I think split links are fine.

If you're that worried you can get soft links separate. Your local garage should have some.

I've got a split link on the KLR, have had them on my old bandit too.

I have a split link chain... The "rivets" on split links do wear and can unclip themselves, causing the chain to rap around the front sprocket!

This actually happened to me on the DRZ when i tried to reused a knackered split link (like an idiot). However i was lucky as the chain caused no damage! Rolling Eyes Laughing

So split link should be ok, just keep an eye on it and put it on right so it doesn't unclip itself when riding! Thumbs Up

this is why ima bit wary and wouldnt fit one on a cbr but i also think i wont bother on the drz....cant see the point in taking the risk..

I've known people to use split-links on Busa's that they've taken drag racing.

Being careful the clip is in good nick is sensible, however.

You can also buy replacement 520 split links for a couple of quid (£3.60 and mine was a good quality one)...

I need a split link as i have 2 sets of wheels and changing em over each time would take forever without a split link! Laughing
