Motorhispania RX50

[DRZ400SM]

Hi

I've had motorhispania rx50 lying about in my back garden for about 2 years. i got it when i was 16 as "non runner" but only needed very little work which i never got round to sorting and as you can imagine now needs more than "a little work". now i don't know much about the mechanics of a bike but would like to fix it up as a first project.
I was thinking put a new engine in it and go from there would this be the best way to go about it or do you guys have any better ideas as to what i could do with it as i don't want to see it go to total waste

I have an rx50 as you can see in my picture.

The engine is pretty standard depending on what year it is and parts are readily available.
You can do lots of things but it depends what your budget it.

Post some pictures and check the bike yourself if there is any major damage or wear.
Check simple things like,

is the engine seized, does it spark. Does it have compression.

I took some pics earlier. When I tried to get it out the corner the wheels wouldn't move maybe chain and sprocket? as the chain was solid no movement at all!

Also panels are bit shabby but know someone who is bit of a dab hand when it comes to that sort of thing and will get it looking really good

Engine wise was thinking something like Aprilia rs50 or maybe 125 if it would fit but anything as long as it works any sugestions?

Could you not possibly fix the engine that is in it?

Why was it sold as a non-runner?

Ok, do a quick check to see if its worth keeping the engine and using that one.

Remove the spark plug, pour some 2 stroke oil in, lots!!!

Attach a battery and connect, press the start button. Do not hold it on, just see if it turns over, don't keep turning it over as you may damage something in the engine as you don't know the condition.
See if it turns over. If not it is seized which could be freed up but on a high rpm bike like this it probably won't do it any good.

If it does turn over then you may be able to get it running.

The engine is pretty much the same as rs50 etc but different years have different engines. Yours looks just like mine but unfortunately I don't have a spare. If you need any parts apart from the engine, I have them, forks, yolks, radiator, wiring loom, frame bits, brake callipers etc etc.
