I have taken a colour photocopy of my driving licence and insurance documents. And laminated them. Will this suffice or do i need to take originals. I have lost the card bit for my licence so will have to get a new bit

I took the originals last time out to France, with colour photocopies in a holster type bag at ALL times.

you may also want to do the same thing with passport,

and don't forget your EH111 , it takes a month to get it through the post I risked it and went out without one last time.

However I was never stopped, I was chased by cops (in a friendly manner) at 'high' speed' but otherwise didn't get stopped.

Ahem my mistake its an E111, not EH111

https://www.ehic.org.uk/Internet/home.do

it means you can claim treatment from the health service in any EU country, it pretty much is the absolute minimum type of health insurance that you get , its free to apply too to boot.

EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) has replaced the E111. Wink

You don't have to get an EHIC card but as they're free and mean hospitals in Europe will put you back together if necessary it'd be worth sorting one before you leave.

You need to take your original documents with you, if you take photocopies as well then keep them in a different bag. Thumbs Up

I ordered mine not long ago and it only took a week or under!

I've just taken colour photocopies of all my documents for my trip next week and plan to keep them separate from my originals. As a contingency plan I've also scanned all my stuff and sent them to my online e-mail account, hopefully I won't need them but I like the reassurance...
