Right, first up a wee disclaimer, apologies if this is anyones on here.

As my quest for a bike starts, i am looking at K2 gixxers amongst the rest of the Gixxer range.

Anyway, i stumbled across this, https://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/529091.htm and i like the look of the K2's i think they were one of the best shapes, but this just seems a little OTT and wouldn't miss a set of neons.

I also don't like the idea of home servicing and feel it's a little over priced.

So, I need educated perhaps, is this over priced? I could return it to fairly standard easily, but is it better just to go out and try and find something a little more 'pure'?

Parkers price guide, not always accurate but does give a good idea.

Suzuki GSX-R1000 K2
2002/52
Original Price £8,999
Independent Dealer £3,135
Private Good £2,995
Private Poor £2,465
Part Exchange £2,745

So it does look overpriced. None of the mods add any physical value at all.

I think thats a tad overpriced to be honest. I think the bloke wants another grand for all the tat he has bolted on.

I wouldnt want to pay more than 3 for a k2 GSXR (unless very very low mileage)

EDIT: Ichy you beat me to it Thumbs Down

Yeah, i loved the part where it says it is home services, but has details to prove it.

Isn't that just an oppertunity to make the SH up?

I would trust something like that a hell of a lot more than a manufacturer service book - have you seen the number of cases where people have say put a mark on their oil filter, which they've paid for to be changed, only to find the same one still on the bike?

A lot of garages are very sloppy and over-charge.

I'd tend to trust someone that has done the work to their own bike - they're more likely to actually care that the work is done right. Sure they could have got receipts for oil and filters and not done the work, but if they were trying to fool you, they'd have probably just blagged some service stamps instead.

And yes, it does seem a bit expensive, though the early GSXR1000s do keep their value quite well last time I checked - one of the 'torquiest' as such engines you can buy and popular in kit cars.
