i thought i could drive it on a bike licence...
i couldnt...
so i bought it anyway.

had no idea these things were so small! its like getting in a fucking kayak for me, but oh well, comedy value is priceless for a first car.

if they dont laugh at you for having a funny first car, they laugh at you for having a shittily modified nova as a first car Wink

whore pics:

heres how she lay all the way from reading to cornwall, with no major hiccups other than one of the ramps holding the front wheel up decided to slip slightly meaning i got a crushed numberplate Sad

check out the mother who looks like a guy with a mullet in this pic!

then we unloaded at home after driving for like 10 hours, and we got a slutty little goodnight photo.

then she winked at me... the little minx

i took that as a hint, then took a photo of her as she went down on me.

she told me she wanted to be a nude model, so i was happy to oblige

Facking jaysus. It looked almost like a normal sized car untill you posted the pic with you in it as well Laughing

That's absolute comedy. I reckon we take an angle grinder to the roof and give you a convertable. Yeh? Razz

Omg I'm actually quite jealous, although I'd prefer a trabant.

Have you given it a decent inspection yet? IIRC although the bodywork is GRP they have a separate steel chassis underneath - not sure if they were galvanised or not.

That wouldn't be difficult to do given the separate chassis construction. Literally just hack the roof off! How about the BCF SW crew give it a make-over? Laughing

Far as i'm aware the chassis on these were galvanised Thumbs Up

I prefer the kitten for sitting in, Much more legroom as the engine isnt so far back Laughing

I've got 5 Gemini 10" rimz in need of a blast + coat/paint that you could have cheap if you wanted them?

i gave it a thorough going over today (ish)... turns out structurally its pretty awesome!
i lifted one of the wheels off the floor and propped it up with a bedside cupboard we were throwing out, and theres only some very light surface rust on the shell mounting points!

i did have a bit of a drive today too... other than a badly in need of adjustment clutch cable, i fucking love it! it can actually shift! (off the mark, up to about 30mph)

as well as this, the electrics are a bit shit, so thats all i need to sort really.

i replaced a blown fuse with a peice of 5mm iron dowel Wink (as a temporary measure) and it helped a bit.

so far the list of crappy bits is as follows:

>heater/fan wont work

>indicators dont flash (thats probably because the rear lights dont work, so like a 10 min job)

>front windscreen wipers dont work... i can shoot water out of them, but they wont move.

>the brakes work, but you have to give it some welly to get it to stop... so ill strip and rebuild the drums

>the passenger doorhandle wont open from the inside... the mechanism works, it just doesnt go far enough to click the latch, again, another simple job.

on top of this, theres a weird switch with a picture of a brake pedal on it that lights up when i push it. dont know what the hell it is.

and a scary yellow light that comes on intermittently. (not oil light)

so yeah... not actually that much to do if you think about it... a full days work and ill have it MOT worthy. if i wasnt going out tomorrow id give it my all and get it done!

also to get rid of is that foul musty old man smell from inside it.
T-cut seemed to do a bang up job of the fading paint too.

AFAIK Its hydraulic. Or it is in the Mini Anyway.

mattsprattuk wrote:

Tried the Hazard light button instead? I think they have separate flasher units.
Try again once you have 4 working bulbs. Should sort it.

mattsprattuk wrote:

Might be worth trying to direct live the motor to see if it works. Switch gear on them are shite.

mattsprattuk wrote:

Pull the drums off, Clean it all and run fresh fluid through. But don't expect miracles. Its Drums all round! And no servo either.

mattsprattuk wrote:

Thats your Brake fluid light. Its in a switch format so you can press it to test the bulb still works.
If your brake fluid is low, the switch will light up.

Mini wheels will fit on the back of that. Keep your eye out for some Mini lites. Will look ace with them. Cool

if i ever bothered to give karma, you would have some right now binge Very Happy so consider this your karma Mr. Green

sounds like you've owned one of these before then?

oh, and as for the mini wheels... ive decided it will be more cost effective to get new rims rather than just pay for new tyres and fitting etc.

ill definatly look at mini wheels. however, i think it may fit on the front tyre too, as i think all the wheels are the same on these (theres only 1 spare anyway) i think by the looks of things it operates slightly like a single sided swingarm like on VFR's.

Shocked You genius. All we'll need is an angle grinder and several rattle cans of Matt Black, true Tristan stylee Razz

How bout it Matt? Wink

P.S I shotgun a drive of it, given that I actually have a license.

pfff, a soft top rialto?? gayest idea ever. as for the paint job, it comes up a nice sexy navy blue with a bit of T-cut, so thats staying.

jack, you can drive it to its MOT when its ready if you want... better make it count and book it in somewhere like southampton Very Happy
assuming you're insured Wink

after a fiddle today, nothing actually came of it, other than i had a close look at the radio and found it had a mic/input jack! FUCKING IDEAL!!!

this means i can get a massive speaker and go yelling at people with a PC microphone, or i can plug my phone/ipod/mp3 player into it! best invention ever! plus the speakers are some weird little 4" things made by phillips that sound pretty nice and clear.

more pics to come ladies and gents... its rear wheel drive, so we'll have a go at some wheelies if the drive shaft doesnt snap.

Same difference?! Laughing

Having your car fully comp doesn't automatically mean other people can drive it and be covered...I don't think anyway? I think you gotta tell the insurance that you want to let other people drive it...

omg thats soooooooooooo cool, ten times better than any other first car iv'e seen. but seriously how are you going to fit in it?

you know you want to turn it into a street sleeper, a wee r1 engine in it should make it shift pretty quickly, corners could be a problem though when going fast.

I bet it's going to be interesting to drive on the lanes - the front wheel will be in the big strip of grass/crap in the middle.

Watch out for the offset though.

You could end up with a car that pulls to one side quite drastically. Laughing
