That what I said a few months ago Laughing People who have got a restricted SRAD (couple on here) seem pleased with them, but to be honest I think you'd be better off getting something like an SV650S (i.e. what I've just bought Cool ). If you are restricting it they have more low down power so are much better suited to being 33bhp than an SRAD. That's if you actually do restrict it of course...

Edit: Mattsprattuk and tristan are the 33bhp SRADers. On a recent rideout I remember reading someones Divvy (33bhp) two up was nearly as fast as the restricted SRAD.

I know tristan has one on here although he's not passed yet so i'm not sure if he has been out on it. Had his heart set on one and seems pleased with it, just remember if you do get it restricted you will take it out because the temptation will get the better of you.

It won't take restriction too well as it's an inline 4 which tend to have the power much higher up the rev range. I'd reccomend something like an SV or ER-6 as their parralel twins so take restriction much better and the insurance on them isn't too bad either.

Let us know how you get on Thumbs Up

Jack

Ask Matt (mattsprattuk or whatever it is) on here, he's got a 33bhp SRAD and seems happy enough with it.

actually...
33bhp on a SRAD is fucking disgraceful.

it wont rev higher than 8000rpm, although it does get there fairly quick.
seeing as the powerband on the SRAD is pretty much from about 7-13000rpm, then your basically using none of the bikes power.

then again, i was riding around for a few months derestricted, so i know what its capable of.

v-twins handle restriction the best, revvy IL4s that produce all of their power at the top of the rpm range do not.

I'd go for an SV650, because they handle well and are nice and predictable.

When I 1st passed I has a SV650S with restirctors, they didnt have the electronic restriction so I had to have washers on the throttlebodys...but it worked out cheaper that way.

the SV is a good bike, it will JUST about get to 100 with the restrictors if thees no head wind and you tuck in XD

One word of warning though, if you plan on riding this thing on the wet make sure you pick up the "fender extender" its like a mud flap that extends the front guard so that water cannot be thrown up into the top of the engine, this wa sa know fault with the model I had, maybe the older ones didnt have this issue, but the water would build up and cause the front cylinder to stop firing, when its already restricted this failure is devistating and youll find full throttle will just about keep it running, forget about moving anywhere.

Says someone that rides an RS125 Laughing

The SV's seem to be the most popular 33hp bike, a sporty riding position and are aparently quite competent in the twisties with a few suspension tweaks.

the law bites over here... i would have hated to be restricted to 33hp
in nz we get a 250cc limit with no power restriction on your learners, so you can guess that i got the most powerful 250 when i was 15(rgv250)
1 year later you can do your full licence and at 16 you can ride what ever you want.

saying that, if i had to have a 33 hp restricted bike.. it would be the sv650, the srads have a fat arse Very Happy

yeah SV is ideal for a learner.as most have said, the power is lower in the revs so it can still pack a bit of a punch when its restricted.I've got a restricted bandit 6 which isnt too bad.its not as revvy as an srad.

if you're looking for an sv then do your research in regards to prices. a lot of the curvys (old shape SVs) are overpriced.Obviously this depends on mileage/condition etc but I wouldnt pay more than £1800 for a curvy. If you want the pointy (new shape model) then you may be lucky to get one for £1800 but private sales on the 2003 models (the first of the pointys) usually starts at £2k - £2.2k. Also with the pointys, they are fuel injected rather than carbed, so you need the ECU restriction kit rather than the washers.

hope this helps

I concur with this post, except im on a cbr600f. Will b taking the restrictors out soon, i'm bored of 33bhp.

if you plan to ride it 33bhp for a decent amount of time, DO NOT ride it before it's restricted, else you'll be taking them out asap...
