I have been offered a 1992 cagiva mito for £500 but it has no back wheel and front screen is it worth it

You need to work out how much time and money it is going to cost you to get it MoT'd and on the road. Then you can compare it to the prices of other Mitos. Good luck Smile

Hi

A rear wheel should be fairly cheap (it is the front that get wrecked when people ride the bikes into things), as should a screen. Depending on the condition of the bike it could well be worth buying.

As already said, depending on the cost to get it road worthy it could be a very good buy. Rear wheels for them can be found for around £50 (same as the Cagiva Planet and SuperCity too so keep that in mind when looking for them) and I may have a rear disc for sale - if it's still there - if you do buy the bike and are struggling to find a disc.

Cheshire Motorcycle Salvage often have Mito wheels in, though there's none at the moment there. PartFinder could be helpful or ringing round some breakers yards in the back of bike magazines like MCN BikeMart, BikeTrader or even Loot and over eBay.

As for the screen, they can be found almost anywhere for around £30-40 new. MPS catalogue do them - though may not be listed anymore - but most places like that, M&P, Demon Tweeks etc. should be able to get them for you even if not in there catalogues or online. You could even try Craig (Craig_ on this site) at CMP Racing as he can get stuff like that cheap and he's trying to specialize in 125 parts.

For £500 it sounds okay, as long as the rest of the bike is in reasonable condition. Find out why it has no rear wheel or screen as it seems quite strange parts to just not have. Confused

You'll need to buy a new tyre as well, and sprocket carrier and sprocket. Also, if the chain on the bike is quite worn then you'll be best changing that and the front sprocket when you get the new rear sprocket. If you buy a second hand wheel from a breakers, it might well be worth changing the wheel bearings then as well.
