right, are indicators like mirrors for mots?

In the way that you either have all or nothing?

Just wondering if my bandit can pass an MOT without indicators

cheers

Hi

Mirrors are entirely optional.

Indicators are mandatory for a road bike made since ~1985 (unless you can try for the loopholes for bikes with no lights at all).

All the best

Keith

There is an acceptable range. Depends how quickly they flash.

All the best

Went to book mine in and get the blokes to fix some small bits beforehand and was told it'd be better for me to do them and then get the bike tested???

So I now have to:

Fit front indicators as one smashed.
They are not LED but smaller ones so hopefully a straight swap. The downside is that its a bastard job to get your hands inside the fairings.

Fit sidelight bulb as blown.
Much the same reason as above, a job I can't and would appear they, do not want to do.

Beg, borrow or steal a single seat cowl as no foot pegs and a pillion seat. I've bid on one on ebay and have finally found some rear hangers that would do if not winner.

Wait for small red reflector to come and then fit in an appropriate place that is within the longitudinal centre line.

Worry that the 'old' fellas in the garage don't mind the unmarked, non standard exhaust and the fact that they believed that the right hand full lock was pulling the cables a little tight.

I finally managed to fit a rather large bullet styled number plate light as on first inspection it fouled and obscured the plate too much. Bought some LED bolts but these faced rearwards and not sideways so went back to the original plan and 30 minutes later, some swearing and scraped knuckles it was fitted.

All this effort just for a piece of paper!

Could you not just take your seat off or is the rider and pillion seat a single unit?

Missing seat is a fail too.

Oh dear. I'd better tell him then because he's gonna take his test on the damn thing! I just don't want him to loose 100 odd quid (including lessons just before) for something like that.

Cheers Keith

I think they have to flash slower than 120 times a second MINUTE or something.

As for indies, You can get away with it if you remove them completely and tape up / remove the switch.

Edited:

Brain said Minute, fingers wrote second.

I hope you mean a minute Wink

120 a second would mean the indicator would appear to be a solid light Laughing

Needs a new clicker unit - I'll lay money on it. Damn cheap and easy to change.

Could you not just buy a cheap seat off of ebay, cut it down to a single and wrap it in gaffatape. Nothing in the MoT says it has to be pretty!

Yes, I did this to the trike to comply with the bastard B1 provisional entitlement.

For a road bike only if it is pre ~1985 (or if you want to go for the fiddles for no lights).

All the best

My mechanic was saying something like this last time I was over there.

There was something people on here usually say you don't need, but he said you need after late 80-early nity something but for the life of me I cannot remember what he said.

off road machines are constructed or adapted primarily for use off roads (whether by reason of its tyres, suspension, ground clearance or otherwise).

Maybe a local tester just lost their testing licence for letting bikes through which legally must have them.

All the best
