Last night my friend and I got pulled over by some police going through a nearby town after going the back roads to it. It was about 11.30pm, the roads were empty and we both love *not racing along Shifty * pitch black roads (because that would be dangerous) Laughing

We were going through this town at about 50mph in a 40mph when the dreaded blue lights appeared behind us so we pulled over in an industrial estate.

When we got off they never really told us a reason why they stopped us untill we asked and it was beacuse they didn't think I had an L plate on the back of my bike (which I do). I think they were just abit bored and fancied pulling someone tbh (they said they were happy with our speed).

But they checked over our bikes and had a laugh about me having no mirrors (long story but not my fault). They did all the reg checks and licence / person checks. Turned out that they were both bikers themselves so offered some advice about the rear lights on my friends bike ect ect.

After this they breifly mentioned (with a smile) that they know that our bikes are probally modified/derestricted but they won't do anything about it but traffic coppers will and off they went.

Shame they didn't notice that my friend's bike has no MOT (due to it failing because of leaking front forks which are being replaced this week) and no tax because he has no MOT. We also both have carbon fibre race cans but this probally comes under what they said about modified/derestricted.

So some decent coppers at last who actually let the little petty things go Thumbs Up

Cheers,

M

I got pulled for having a broken back light on a country dual carriageway at about 12am. Din't actually realise it was out until I was stopped. After a bit of me trying to unscrew my rear light to have a look at the bulb he got bored and said he wasnt going to make me walk home. Told me to be careful and buggered off. Sound chap i thought

No they didn't as if they did the bike would be off the road now and the owner would have had to walk home. That's one of the main priorities of getting un-taxed (making it also un-insured) drivers off the road.

Well yes they did as I heard him reading out both our number plates into his radio and then it coming back all clear. He then went on to check the model and engine size with the person on the radio.

All they will have done is check them against the stolen bikes data and obviously came up as being legit.

Why is this a shame? Have you got it in for your friend?

As in pointing out that they were stupid to miss it

Some Police are top people, I got pulled over doing over 50mph in a 20mph zone (the road is huge and open but in the daytime school children walk past to to get to a nearby school) because the road was empty and it was past midnight, the copper let me off after making sure I was insured and telling me the traffic cops wouldn't be so pleasant. Thumbs Up

Seriously, riding with no MOT is not a laugh.

I was taken off my bike by a copper on his way to work a couple of months ago, only to find that my MOT had expired a week earlier, I had completely forgot. The bike was a write off and the insurance company was involved, what followed was weeks of absolute torment, would I get prosocuted, would the insurance pay out?

Luckily I managed to sort it thanks to a mate at a MOT station, but if I wasn't so lucky it would be goodbye bike, and therefore my only way to work. My job lost, with a 5 month old baby and a mortgage.

Just don't risk it.

Yeh he put it in for a MOT but it failed due to the fork seals which he hadn't noticed. He has ordered them and is redoing the MOT asap Thumbs Up

If they let you ride off without an MOT then that's more than the petty things. Imagine you'd gone round the corner and your mate crashes into a spanking new BMW. Now he has to pay out of his own pocket.

Well mine is a 50 and it does like 60 + or - down a slight slope and my mates is a 70 bore kit so it does like 80 down the same road.

Google gpr 50 2005 and you will see its not a 'ped'

Laughing Laughing You sure you aren't exaggerating or your speedo's aren't over-reading a little? Laughing

Only reason I ask is I remember a guy at work who has 70cc kit who claimed he could hit 70 and would kick my NSR's ass in a race. I followed him for a while, he topped out at about 48mph (indicated on my speedo), before I took off and showed him what 70mph looks like.
