Impressive, but not a record.

Ive seen a CG go around the clock and back to 40k before it got consigned to the scrap yard, and that was on one oil change a year instead of every K as recommended.

Cheers
John

I'm sure the CB would do 2 or 3 times that. I think when people say 40-60k, this is often referring to sports bikes that rev high and are regularly kept on the boil. Obviously, revving higher increases the speed of wear and tear. Other components will probably be getting to the end of their serviceable life and will be in need of replacing, but it's hardly the end of the world.

I'm sure I read in Ride recently that CBR600's aren't unkown to see 200k. A lot of them probably get a fairly easy life being more all-rounders than all out sports bikes.

Your CB125 won't be doing 15,000rpm everywhere and is going to be a fairly understressed engine, so it'll go for ages more!

Hi

Impressive for one of those engines. They were not renowned for a long life.

Although if you let the oil run out you will rapidly kill it.

All the best

Keith

I gave up on filling the oil 3weeks ago as it all disappeared after a few days, but she still goes Very Happy

nothing at all, not even a spark plug change.

As keith has said, running it low/without oil is a garuanteed way to kill the thing.

Cheers

Is it the CB125's with a rubbish cam chain tensioner? Thats more likely to cause you problems than anything else if I am thinking of the right bike :p (it was the early ones for sure, not sure if by 1987 the dodgy part was updated)

Listen to this bit of advice, I did the opposite of it about 2 months ago on my ZZR, its now dead.
