Decided to flush my brake fluid today as the brakes were feeling a bit spongey. Undid the bleed nipple on the rhs caliper. Got all of the air out of that side so promptly tightened the bleed nipple and then this happened. Confused

Hayabusa ones, zx 12r or ZX7r, probably quite a few others.

Yep, as above, plus some ZX9Rs use them Tockico 6 pots too I think.

That's a pretty shit design if the nipple didn't snap, and the casting of the caliper actually snapped! Quite worrying as I have them on my 7R.

Before you replace it you may as well have the "new" one and other existing one overhauled. The brakes on my bike are shocking, and keep meaning to get round to having them done, or just replace them with something better.

The guy at my local bike shop reckons the early SRAD 4 pots will go straight on, and will work much better.

Yeh tell me about how shit they are.

I had a J2 ZX6R about 3 years ago and the brakes were just as bad. Had braided hoses, decent pads and still kept seizing. I eventually replaced all the seals and cleaned out the insides as well as reconditioning the pistons. They worked ok for about 3 weeks although nothing special before they went to shit again. Mad

Great! Very Happy That's made my mind up! If I'm going to keep my 7R I'm going to find some 4 pots that bolt straight on. Been wondering about it for a few weeks now. Fitted braided hoses, but made no difference. Just a shame because the 6 pots look good IMO.

I have heard of people using early R1 4-pots and finding a great improvement. TBH I think 6-pots on a middleweight bike are daft.

welcome to the world of kawasaki cheese brakes. You are now the 5th ( including me ) that i know of that happening to.

Crap casting is to blame. Most tockico 6 pots of that era will fit.

There's nothing wrong with 4 pot brakes on a 600. They still have good stopping power with the added benefit of not getting additional crud trapped between the piston and seals. You had a gander over to MCN ninjas?

Shocked

Cheap brass fitting is stronger than the cast aluminium!? They're really cheaping out.

Shame it's also going to cost you the time and money of bleeding and replacing the fluid in it as well, since it will absorb moisture in the air.
