Several of the 'armoured' sections in the textile jackets or trousers are just a piece of 5mm foam that not only offers little protection but gets folded up and causes discomfort when riding.

I've looked at trying to remove the hard armour from the leather suit but they are fitted under the lining with no way of removing it.

Can anyone recommend any armour inserts for textiles?

Is changing to armour advantageous or leave as is, ie padding?

I'm not sure if this is any help but all the weise clothing that I've ever bought (2 jackets and a pair of trousers) all have hard plastic armour. It may still break in a crash but it will be tonnes better than the foam.

Heingericke hiprotec squidgy armour is available in a shedload of shapes and sizes, and is crash tested by me. It works Razz

Infinity are still selling some Knox armour quite cheap, they don't have all the range though and you can check the sizes out here: Advance-X

Another + Thumbs Up on the Hiprotec - I've some in my leathers and don't even know it's there. Haven't crashed on it yet so can't talk about impact resistance, but if Mim's old "throwing the big ball-bearing at the armour on the glass desk" trick at HG Birmingham was any kind of indication I'm fairly confident about it. Very Happy

So you are promoting increased risk to broken bones and transference of shock to another part of the body through the use of hard plastic armour? Interesing! Rolling Eyes Thumbs Down

+1 for Forcefield. One of the best types of armour available at the moment IMO.

You don't want solid armour, it'll just transmit the force though it.
