ULTRASEAL IN BACK TYRE
2 MAN TENT
CAMP ROLL TO SLEEP ON
SLEEPING BAG
GB STICKER (NOT SURE WHERE THAT’S GOING YET IF ANYWHERE AT ALL)
WIND UP LANTERN
DRIVING LICENCE, INSURANCE, BREAKDOWN COVER, TRAVEL INSURANCE
BIKE SERVICED UP
NEW BACK TYRE

I’m travelling from Portsmouth – Bilbao to then south west to west coast of Spain then all way round coast up to Barcelona then up through France to Calais just short of 4 weeks later. The only problem I have at the minute I can think of is I want some tyre puncture repair for my front tyre as it has a tube in it due to it being a spoked wheel. Halfords only do stuff for tubeless tyres. Any other ideas would be good.

I changed my rear number plate to one with the blue UK badge on it. I didn't want any grief with not having a GB sticker.

Get your front wheel sealed up to accept tubeless tyres?

guide on it here for adventure riders forum, Jason once did it for his Africa twin, so he told me

https://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=274533

Edit stop worrying so much this is Northern Europe you are talking about, say ....

since you are leaving before me and R1Lad perhaps we can hook up on your return leg for a beer or something in Barcelona where Svedobo lives?. (I sail on the 6th and will buzz round Spain for 5 days and spent the next 8 days in the pyranees and moving east towards Italy and Switzerland).

Ultraseal in the front tyre too? It works for tubed tyres.

The old fashioned way was to carry some tyre levers and either a spare inner tube or some patches.

I have heard of some couriers drilling an extra hole in the rim and fitting two tubes. Inflate evenly between the two Then if one gets a puncture, you only loose half your air, simply stop and top-up the other one. Don't know how well this would work at speed.

Booked your ferry ticket then Itchy? What sort of route you got planned for Spain? I quite fancy heading over to Barcelona and then down along the coastal road from there (N340) right down to the South, maybe going as far as Cadiz.

that reminds me of tommorows world 198X , where they made bicycle tyres which were completely solid rubber (or whatever they make them out of) and showed a demo by going over loads of thumb tacs, though this would probably break your suspension and your bum.

I'm considering a fast run to Jerez and Cadiz then back up to Barca , to follow in the footsteps of Korn

The thing is about going to Barca first then going up again is that you are on the wrong side of the country and have to cross the country again I thinks.

I've heard of people who carry a few split links just incase their chain snaps. A lot easier to find some where to cut off the snapped link and replace it with a split link or two and carry on till you can find a proper garage or somewhere to buy a new chain.

But dunno if that would work in reality?

I rode around Western Europe for 3 months without a GB sticker and had no problems with the Coppers/authorities.
